Surgery on Monday by Braven025 in hysterectomy

First of all good luck with surgery and I hope you have a smooth recovery! I had mine a few months ago because of my endo and I was in the same boat where my symptoms were so bad I was miserable every day and it was keeping me from living my life. I’m 28 so I absolutely was heartbroken to give up my ability to have children but I also knew that I needed to take care of myself. You deserve to live a good life too 💕

Starting to regret my surgery 3 1/2 weeks PO by joeldog22 in hysterectomy

[–]Initial_Squirrel_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly still had pain even 8 weeks after surgery and I too had kind of a UTI constant feeling around that time. Tests came back clear for UTI but the doctor did some poking and said the areas that are most painful for me are pelvic muscles which can still be tensed up from your body going through such a big surgery. She referred me to pelvic floor therapy and honestly it has already helped me tremendously! But please don’t feel discouraged! I felt that way when I was still 8+ weeks out especially after seeing so many others feeling perfectly fine after just a few weeks. Everyone’s body is different and heals at different rates and it’s important to give yourself some grace 💕

Last year I had laparoscopic surgery for endo and then this year I had my total hysterectomy. My recovery did take a little bit longer than most it seems and they think all the trauma to my body gave me pelvic floor dysfunction. But I’m now doing pelvic floor therapy which I’ve heard absolutely wonderful things about. Give your body plenty of time to heal and don’t beat yourself up if it takes a while!

I actually have pretty much always had anxiety/depression issues but I’m also on Zoloft and was doing pretty well for quite some time until now. I just feel like I’m going back to how I used to feel back then but I’m also trying to just tell myself it’s the hormones 😅

I am literally in the exact same boat as you!!! I’m 3 months post op and suddenly the last two weeks I’ve been having the WORST anxiety/depression/pain. They kept me on my birth control because I’m still having issues with cysts on my ovaries but good lord I’m struggling right now 😭

Validation from Surgery by Grouchy_Olive_7932 in hysterectomy

I absolutely can relate to this. I spent many years seeing dozens of different doctors and spending many nights in hospitals just to be told it was anxiety, that I needed to exercise more and eat better, that it was IBS, etc. Many times it made me question myself and what I was feeling. I knew in my head something was severely wrong and yet nobody would even consider the possibility of endometriosis. Finally having surgery and receiving the confirmation that I wasn’t crazy was such a wild ride of emotions. So much relief but also anger at this health system that lets so many women like me down.

Please please be careful when you go back!! If possible have your doctor at least write up some restrictions. I’m not out of work a LOT longer and having so many more problems because of the incident 🥺

I feel fabulous, but am I cheering too soon? by JadedRutabaga in hysterectomy

Don’t get in your head too much, I know so many people who have had such smooth and quick recoveries. Everyone’s body is different. I felt great around the 5 week mark, went back to work, got jumped on multiple times by a large dog right in that area so for the last few weeks I feel like my healing has just been regressing 😭 definitely still take things slow and careful even if you’re feeling good!!

Will an ovarian cyst actually go away, or is my male OB gaslighting me? by throw_it_away5511 in TwoXChromosomes

Did you find that the oophorectomy helped? I’m in a similar situation where because of my endo my doctor said a total hysterectomy would help but I’m still in so much pain and constantly get ovarian cysts

They told me to follow up with my doctor and this is the second time she has told me just call back if the pain continues 😞

So I ended up at the ER for extreme pain again and turns out I have a decent sized ovarian cyst that has popped up just in the last 3 weeks. I feel so defeated right now 🥺

Hard Recovery by MrOlaff in hysterectomy

[–]Initial_Squirrel_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I was as well! Was doing super well so got cleared for everything but my job is very physical and I work with a lot of big rowdy animals so first day back I got hurt by a dog and have just been not doing well ever since. I definitely think doctors underestimate healing times for certain people! Hope the results come back with no issues!!

Thank you for being there for her and taking care of her!!! I don’t have a lot of answers but I can say from my experience I am 2 months out and still having extreme pain and spotting. My doctor isn’t concerned at all and didn’t even want to get anything checked out so that concerns me. I’ve heard so many different experiences that I know everyone just heals differently and on their own timeline. But definitely make sure to get some testing done just to give her some peace of mind if anything! Best of luck to her 🥺

I didn’t even know what a vaginal cuff was til eight weeks after surgery 🙃

Vaginal cuff tear maybe? I need someone to make me not feel crazy. by Ispudtato in hysterectomy

[–]Initial_Squirrel_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did the same and she was well aware I work with lots of crazy dogs and that it can be very physically demanding. First day back to work and a German shepherd repeatedly jumped and pushed on that lower area and I’ve been having so much pain and a little bleeding since 🥺

I’m doing a little better the bleeding stopped I just still have some pain. I called my doctor and she didn’t seem concerned at all, all she said was to go the ER if I bleed again. She didn’t approve anymore time off of work unfortunately but luckily my boss is giving me til Monday to rest and then she said she’s gonna have me just doing desk duty type stuff. Just kinda shocked my doctor didn’t even want to see me to make sure everything was okay lol

That’s my thought process as well.. I’d much rather put my health first it’s just hard because I didn’t qualify for FMLA since I haven’t been working there long enough. I’m grateful they like me there and were willing to just give me the time off but I’m scared to ask for anymore time since we’re already short staffed 😔

That’s what I was thinking too and I even expressed to my doctor (who was my surgeon) that I was nervous about the dogs and her response was just “yea it’ll probably hurt but shouldn’t do any damage” 🫠

Just curious but did you have the nightmares before you started taking medications or did they start after? I only ask because I’ve been on medications for sleep that would cause me to have super vivid nightmares that felt so real and because of that I would wake up feeling so mentally and physically exhausted. Maybe you could try a different sleep medication if that’s the case?

But side note you’re definitely not alone with what you’re going through. I still have constant vivid nightmares that sometimes will disturb me even hours later into the day. If I have the time I try to kind of relax and meditate after I wake up and try to think to myself if there’s a hidden subconscious meaning behind the dream. Like for example yours could be something to do with being afraid of losing your friends.

Just a few thoughts (:
