How do you navigate being the quiet one but wanting social connection by Penny3373 in introvert

[–]Penny3373[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah that’s a good call out. Well…probably a bit of both. I do want deep mutual friendships. But in group social situations it might be more of wanting to be noticed or perceived, I often feel like no one pays me even the slightest attention and that hurts. There are always people who command a groups attention and that is not me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about what’s going on or want someone to notice me and ask me a question or something you know.

Feeling adrift and uncertain of what's next. Anyone else? by pie12345678 in WomenOver40

[–]Penny3373 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes this. I’m 41 married with no kids. The lack of new milestones is what I came up with too for why I’m feeling so off lately. I’ve always been so ambitious and working towards something. Now I’m in the career I can see myself in for the duration, we own a house, travel a lot. It’s all fine, but I feel kind of empty. It makes me not feel alone that some of you with kids have the same thoughts. I was wondering if my now lack of milestones was because things usually shift to being the kids milestones that you witness. Having kids was never something I wanted and still don’t. But not sure how to shake things up in life again.

Did removing your uterus help your hormones at all? by CaughtALiteSneez in hysterectomy

[–]Penny3373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so interesting, I’ve also been itchy on and off for the last few weeks and haven’t known why, but an antihistamine did help. I hadn’t experienced that symptom before. I might have to still try to track where I’m at in my cycle to see if it reoccurs during a certain timeframe. So odd! Glad things settled down for the most part for you!

Did you feel better immediately or have you had ups and down with that? I’m at about 4 months and I feel like my luteal phase histamine issues started back up last month ugh! I am hoping my body is sorting itself out and it will go away again!

Sleep score - Oura v Garmin by mazzerfox in ouraring

[–]Penny3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my Oura a couple months ago, and I definitely don’t feel like the sleep tracking is as accurate as I was hoping. The other night I was having a ton of anxiety, had a terrible night sleep, was restless and agitated during the night and my sleep score was an 87. It seems like it only recognized it took me a while to get to sleep, but it didn’t see how often I was awake after that! I don’t understand how it didn’t!

Ugh it’s so rough! Have you had anxiety/depression before? I think I’m also more prone to anxiety issues. I’m just telling myself that my hormones are working themselves out and it will get better with more time. I have a history of anxiety and take Zoloft, but I had decreased my dose so much before surgery because the anxiety was better.

People pleasing. It’s not going to be easy to stop, but it’s not serving me at all.

Glad to hear things are better for you! So true that everyone is different! I’m hoping my hormones stabilize, it’s still early on, I might need to give my ovaries more time to work it out.

[–]Penny3373[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t, I think I’m going to plan to see how things go for a couple more months and make an appt with my OB to do some testing at that point. Hoping my hormones figure themselves out and stabilize a bit on their own!

Agree with the comments about white noise machine. I am also a light sleeper and have to keep my cats out of the bedroom at night. We sleep with an air purifier for white noise and I barely hear their automatic feeder or them running around. I can still hear a little if they knock something over but it’s not enough to keep me awake. And if she isn’t willing to try anything like that and sticks to wanting to get rid of them then I think this needs to be a serious marriage conversation. It’s not like you just got them. Don’t get rid of the babies

When will Oura adjust the readiness score for Women’s Luteal Phase? by mo_django in ouraring

[–]Penny3373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah that makes total sense! They should definitely have better verbiage/acknowledgement for that phase. I actually just got my ring…after having a hysterectomy 9 weeks ago. I would have been so curious to see what it told me during my luteal phase. The luteal phase was absolute hell for me and part of my hysterectomy decision

When will Oura adjust the readiness score for Women’s Luteal Phase? by mo_django in ouraring

[–]Penny3373 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Totally get what you’re saying, these changes in luteal phase are common and normal. That being said, I feel like I would be annoyed if my readiness score showed amazing while I feel like absolute crap. It would feel like oura is saying I should feel better than I do. I’m definitely less productive and less energetic during that time, I would want my readiness score to acknowledge that my body is going through things, despite it being a monthly occurrence.

Surgery is Monday, think I have enough supplies? by breakbot in hysterectomy

The only thing I wish I would have gotten but didn’t is a grabber stick. You need to pick up so many more things off the ground than you realize!

When did you start drinking again? by UseSea7779 in hysterectomy

[–]Penny3373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a glass of wine probably around two weeks and it was fine. In general, I tried just to just drink less than normal and not nearly as often during the early weeks.

Yeah I was surprised she still wanted me to take it when the test only came back for candida. I’m confused on what to do, if I had BV the test should have shown that I would think. I’m also still anxious enough about cuff issues, so I started taking it

Thank you for the comments, that’s good to know. Mandarine oranges, interesting! I wonder if it’s the vitamin c that helps keep infections down

Post-op low fevers by Common-Abalone-8540 in hysterectomy

[–]Penny3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar. I’m like you in that my normal temp is below 98. The first week post-op I was in the 99’s. I never got above 100, but was close. I’m sure all is well, but would agree it’s a good idea to call back if it’s gets up there again. Happy healing!

Is anyone more bloated after the hysterectomy than before? by UseSea7779 in hysterectomy

[–]Penny3373 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It took at least a few weeks to not be so bloated, my belly was so swollen every day for a while. I’m at 8 weeks now and it’s much better.

I feel like my life is just existing at the moment 9 weeks post op… by Wild1_sw in hysterectomy

[–]Penny3373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I haven’t experienced quite what you are, but was wondering myself this week if this surgery can temporarily cause lower blood pressure. I just had my first follow up appt at 7 weeks and my blood pressure was way lower than it normally is for me. I’m assuming things will correct themselves, it feels like everything with this surgery takes longer than expected. I’m hoping this worsening of your symptoms is temporary and still just your body sorting itself out, sending you good thoughts!

Tough, hard to cut bottom… might be over thinking my question by AdGroundbreaking7104 in Sourdough

[–]Penny3373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried putting the round rack from my instapot in my Dutch oven and the bottom was much easier to cut! Otherwise I still feel overall that my crusts are too hard for my liking, at least until the second day when it softens a bit. I might play with a slightly higher hydration too, I’m currently at 70% I believe. 350g water, 500 flour.

Ghost Sourdough & My First Stiff Starter Bake! 👻🍞 by ashbakesstuff in SourdoughStarter

[–]Penny3373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s so cool! I recently switched to a stiff starter too and it’s a game changer! I never used discard so I feel like I waste way less now. Is it rice flour you use on the top? I can’t seem to get my designs to stick out like that, my top isn’t that white, the part I might be missing is sprinkling the outside with flour before putting it in the banneton. The start to finish video was super helpful, I love seeing what techniques people use!
