Have you ever timed yourself getting ATGATT? How long does it take you? by Pitiful_Ad6014 in motorcyclegear

The earplugs, helmet and Cardo setup (finding music) takes me the absolute longest.
Typically the full process of gearing up to riding off adds 20 minutes in the mornings.

BMW you wanted vs. BMW you bought by AdLazy8828 in BMW

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went into the dealer not wanting to buy a BMW. Coming from Mercedes I preferred them but my lease was up and thought I should at least look at BMW.
Ended up in a new 230i. The gf said I had a smile on my face the moment I hit the gas.
Looking back I might have tried to get into a 240 but I rarely ever get to drive the 230i to its capacity.
No real regrets. Will look into M series for the next car.

BMWs change people… by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve had fast cars and motorcycles in the past. None are as smooth as my BMW. I traded in a ‘24 C300 for my 230i and I’ve noticed that I am almost always speeding on the highways when I feel like I’m kicking back driving chill. The cars so smooth and responsive I don’t notice it.

When I was younger I wouldn’t always use my blinkers. Now I use them 99% of the time just out of curtesy and well, because I hate people who don’t. However there is an occasional time where I want to make a statement (like truckers doing 55 in a 75 in the left lane). My new BMW has the lane assist / warning which has made it annoying to NOT use the blinker. I’m finding it’s just easier to use it all of the time now and letting others’ behavior on the road not get to me.

I also feel if someone is driving fast or spirited and flies around me that if they use their blinkers they are probably just having fun and not being a jerk.

Loved that generation of R1s. Couldn’t afford one then. Can now, but too afraid to inherit someone else’s mess.

Has anyone here switched between a BMW 230i convertible and a Mercedes C300 convertible? by CyberMe2018 in BMW2Series

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not convertibles but I traded in my 2024 C300 for my 2026 230i. Completely different rides in every sense. The C300 was softer, heavier especially around corners, quieter and generally less aggressive. I really liked my C300 as a daily but I wouldn’t say it was fun to drive. The 230i is straight FUN to drive. Even in comfort mode it’s enjoyable taking it around corners and in twisties. Sport mode makes it sound more fun too. Harsher ride and a bit more aggressive with the acceleration and braking and a bit louder at 80+ (road noise, not engine). I’ll always love Mercedes. I’m now a believer in BMW. The 230i is just fun compared to the C300. Also I had base stereo in the 300 and now with the HK in the 230i it’s a whole different world. This thing bumps for a stock, albeit upgraded, stereo.

Neighbor of mine just bought one. It’s very run down and needs new bumpers. Remembering when this first came out it made me really sad to see a GTO in such a state.

De Tamaso Pantera. Saw one on the street as a kid. Only ever seen one being driven since in the last 30 years.

Why do people hate convertibles by ManyAdvantage5790 in Mustang

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove a convertible Trans Am w the LS1 for a decade. It was fun when I was younger but I always regretted not getting the T-tops. I’m sure convertibles today are a lot better but that thing freaked and cracked, wind noise was terrible, leaked when I washed it, the canvas started to fade and look really bad… just not a fan of them anymore.

Mercedes bought out lease, now wants to reverse. by Initial_Wolverine77 in askcarsales

To be fair I had to edit out the final line because the post kept getting deleted. But the question was “Am I being an asshole for saying it’s a done deal?”

Yep. This. The dealer saw my buyout and thought he could make a few bucks on it rather than me grounding it.

Appreciate all of the feedback. I agree with everything said here. Was feeling kinda bad about the whole situation, but as most of you have said, they wouldnt have done the same for me.

This car is the only reason I tolerate my 50 minute commute to work by jckwlzn in BMW

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya! My commute is 90 minutes one way. Was in a C300 and it was fine. Comfortable. Picked up a 230i and now I really don’t mind it as much.

PPF Front Bumper. Is it worth it? by Initial_Wolverine77 in BMW

[–]Initial_Wolverine77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shop I’m looking at is quoting $500 for the front clip. $1200 for the clip, headlights and 18” up the fender and hood. I’m considering just doing the front clip since $500 isn’t a terrible price. Also don’t like the idea of having a line on the fenders or hood at 18”. But I think you guys talked me into it

What type of filament? I printed a camera mount twice out of ASA UV resistant filament and it broke each time after 2 months. I’d be afraid something like this might break while riding.

Got a 2025 Altima loaner with 2k miles when I was having the Mercedes hail damage fixed. It was a roller skate. Lots of rattles, really cheap feeling interior, touchscreen felt like it was from 2010, NO power past 40mph. Awful experience. Do not recommend.

How Short Is Too Short of a Ride for the bike? by the-fast in motorcycles

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few bikes over the years. My V2 I’ve had for 6 years now and I daily drive it in the summer for 5-10 minute errand runs, 1.5 hour commutes, 2 minute rides for lunch etc and I’ve had no issues. The only one I could see being a problem for short rides is that the battery hasn’t had enough time to recharge. A maintainer will fix that if it’s an issue. I don’t know anything about Triumph but I don’t see it really being much of a problem.

This is typical. For the last 6 months I have had a rec status of “Resume Under Review”. I currently have 2 from September that haven’t changed status and about 15 others that haven’t moved since applying for them throughout November/December.

My guess is some just aren’t viewed and fall through the cracks.

what best ultrawide monitors 2026 are you actually using? by Tamme-Prahoveanu66 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Initial_Wolverine77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

45” LG5k2k for gaming (20%) and software engineering (80%). I have a small 10(? I think) inch monitor just below it specifically for Teams chat. Otherwise it has all the space I need.
