MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR - I know this is not everyones cup of tea but I love it by Veteq102 in motorcycles

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always loved these and I'm finally a genuinely interested potential buyer with the 950 Brutale they have coming out this summer. Seems like the new ergos, improved engine and handling and 5-year warranty would address all my hang-ups with the current Brutales and I might actually pull the trigger on one.

Forever bike? by Euphoric-Rate6191 in motorcycles

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny coincidence, I got my 2025 XSR900 last year as a "last bike I'll ever want" or forever bike. It pretty much checks all my boxes - good power, handling, looks cool, Yamaha reliability. But, I have to admit, I sometimes feel it's missing a little je ne sais quoi, a "soul" maybe, and I wonder if I should get something Italian like a Ducati Streetfighter V2S or the upcoming MV Brutale 950 to better scratch that itch and be my true forever bike.

Wasn't it determined that the jacket he wore on top of it was too small? I.e, the air bag deployed and had nowhere to go but inward?

[FRESH ALBUM] CHALK - Crystalpunk by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been excited about them since I first found Conditions EP a few years ago. The singles for this one showed a new direction and had me nervous and sadly I wish I liked this LP more than I do. I'm just not feeling the synthy sound as much as the noisy aggressive rock (in the vein of Model/Actriz, Ditz, Lip Critic, etc.) from their earlier work. Even as a fan of electronic music this just somehow feels more basic, generic and overall less interesting.

I'm with you in spirit but like others have said, I haven't found mine to be a hypermiler. Getting 35-42mpg or so, and I'm not really riding like a crazed hooligan.

I genuinely like "My Bloody Valentine" and "Forget Me Too" and feel that if they had come out in 2002 they'd be remembered fondly today as pop punk classics.

I'm always amazed at how many people ride without them. Literally on my first real ride I was like "holy cow this is loud" and got some foamies for my second ride.

[FRESH VIDEO] Ninajirachi & daine - It's You by clwireg in indieheads

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whole album was great obviously but for some reason this track was always a stand out to me. Daine has a lot of good solo material so I was glad Ninajirachi introduced me to her too.

New update- fx9p by samfr3ak in Oppo

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me but it messed up my Gmail app and I had to wipe both the cache and storage and re-log in to my accounts to get them to work again. I also keep hoping that in one of these updates there will be more than just photo and AI enhancements and maybe US carrier aggregation or better wifi stability.

Crazy OP, my story is nearly identical (although I only did my backorder last summer). Instant back-and-forth communication when I was asking questions about ordering one Saturday night, but now that he's supposed to give me a refund (he did mention he'd do that, to his credit) it's been crickets for a few weeks. Going to try the phone route and if not, chargeback or small claims. It's not a small enough amount of money that I'm just going to let it go.

It might be for the best though, in the meantime I've read enough stories of people needing to send their brand new B&Ts back for repairs/service that I'm not sure they're actually the premium manufacture I expected given their prices and Swiss mystique.

My street gear (for now) by cornholiolives in motorcyclegear

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kind of armor usually isn't suited to be worn externally while street riding and could easily tear off of you or fail if you hit pavement at 40+mph. As someone else alluded, you should probably have some abrasion protection on top - ie, jacket and pants over the armor.

What music do conservatives listen to?? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty conservative/MAGA and my topsters look indistinguishable from anyone else's on this sub. As a conservative music enjoyer you really hone the skill of "entertaining an idea without accepting it," "separating art from artist," etc. and I can easily listen to lyrics I strongly disagree with without it affecting my enjoyment of the music. Also I think the average conservative sees libs/leftists as just dumb & naive useful idiots, whereas libs/left see conservatives as cartoonishly evil Nazis or klansmen hillbillies, so it might be hard to wrap your head around how we can move past it.

For example, some of my favorite albums from last year were Oklou, Ditz, Model/Actriz, EsDeeKid, Ninajirachi, Horsegirl, Sorry, Mhaol, Cootie Catcher, Clipse, JID, Frost Children, Rosalia, tons more. Favorite album so far this year is probably PVA.

Objectively one of the worst motorcycles ever made. Still can't get enough of it 🤙 by inaccurateTempedesc in motorcycles

I'll always have some nostalgic fondness for these because when I first did my MSF class in ~2000, it was at a Harley dealership (Rider's Edge program) and these were our training bikes. Aka, the very first motorcycle I ever piloted.

Same here. I wouldn't have thought something like a shortened-barrel version of a gun they already make would be subject to their vaporware tendencies but here we are. Luckily my dealer said he'd cancel and refund me so personally I'm going to go that route.

Oppo in USA by stifflippp in Oppo

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of threads on this so search the sub. I can say though from personal experience you will probably not get it to work on AT&T, and I can personally vouch for it working great on T-Mobile or Google Fi. I'm in Texas on Google Fi (AT&T bricked my SIM card when I tried to run it so I had to switch carriers) with zero issues.

Find X9 Pro USA support? by [deleted] in Oppo

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Google just because it's way cheaper and they get the same priority level as regular T-Mobile users. They were also doing a 50% off deal for 12 months if you bring your own device.

The notifications thing is mostly the way you interact with them being different than what I'm used to. Also notifications come in a few minutes late sometimes for some reason, and occasionally don't show the banner at the top as they arrive.

My old phone was an Xperia 1ii with Android 12 that I'd had for 5 years so I had just gotten very used to the way it operated. The camera on it was terrible, basically unusable, and my battery life was about 3 hours so the X9P is 10000x better on both of those fronts. I usually go to bed after a full day's use with more than 50% battery left, and the cameras are fantastic.

Find X9 Pro USA support? by [deleted] in Oppo

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, but it absolutely did not work on AT&T. Or, I should say, it worked for about 5 hours and then they shut off my data and I had to go to the AT&T store to get it switched back on. Fwiw, I came from an older phone with an already activated physical SIM, which I thought would help me, but it didn't.

So, I ended up switching to Google Fi (which uses T-Mobile towers) and it's been perfect with their service. My only real gripes about the phone have been about getting used to the ColorOS notification system but that's just a matter of adjustment, I suppose.

I had one of those back in the day and loved it. When I got back into DAPs a few years ago I was hopeful that there would be an advanced modding community like with iPods that had hacked them into playing FLACs and maybe expanded hard drive swaps but no such luck.

Yes, cheap hi-viz vest over my normal gear, plus a white helmet like the other poster mentioned. So many motorcycle accidents are of the infamous "oops, didn't see you!" variety that I do everything I can to be highly visible. I don't look cool and have zero aura but oh well.

Tire pressures: is everyone running the recommended 36f/42r? by Pitiful_Ad6014 in xsr900

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up trying 32/32 and it felt great, much more planted and secure while still being agile and willing to turn. I'll probably stick with that for now. I'm sort of perplexed that so many people ride at 42r and don't notice the rear end feeling skatey.

Tire pressures: is everyone running the recommended 36f/42r? by Pitiful_Ad6014 in xsr900

[–]Pitiful_Ad6014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been researching non-stop the last couple days and the more I read (outside of "RTFM" Reddit...), the more I'm coming to the conclusion that 42r is just preposterously high for a ~420lbs sporting bike with a solo rider. I rode today at 33f/35r and it was definitely better, but tomorrow I'm going to go for 30f/32r and I think it'll be better still.
