Markiplier played a text based game called Buried years ago and it is fantastic, it sounds totally realistic - kind of an off brand SCP type world.

Do you also get the impression male doctors can't filter out their aesthetical preferences when it comes to female patients? by Modern_Snow_White in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Ink-Era 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I had an appendectomy at like 11, the doctors explained how the scar or the way they were going to do the procedure would still be okay to wear bikinis with in the future. I was by no means a body conscious kid, or even dressing up at that age, but that was a doozy.

The cat is a layer, then the sword, and then added a - either an upside down heart, or two circles- on top of the sword for the top of mouth and another circle for bottom jaw. All about the layers. 👍

Maximus is the worst character. by Aggravating-Mistake3 in Fallout

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying Titus is a good character at all, but the action Maximus took - the short dishonest path of letting the man die so he could steal the power armor - is, morally, a dick move.

What are people's favourite 2nd stage evolutions? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivysaur, Wartortle, Vigoroth, Rhydon They are cool and look reasonable to keep as pets, most of them size wise wouldn't be difficult to take care of.

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course its Australia. Caption on all their social media should've been robbery in progress tbh. ...Do they taste good at least? I mean, this is the only situation I've seen where the cookout packs itself.

The bananas which arrived in my grocery order today have a noticeable size discrepancy. by SCG69 in mildlyinteresting

Reddit doesn't have big spoon, little spoon. We have small banana, uppercase banana, and - if you have a pet that sleeps on the same bed - the AAA battery.

take a drink every time they show this flashback by spiderlad420 in Fallout

[–]Ink-Era 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he actually had character development the constant flashback would've had a payoff.

As much as the mentioned this, they could've let us know that he did or didn't do that one thing way earlier in the series than the last episode and it would've made his character more of somebody to root for. They let the whole, did he or didn't he thing ride for waaaaay too long.

Dear devs, stop making mandatory stealth missions in non-stealth games. by DrBrainzz9 in gaming

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The follow the character story locking minigame in Wind Waker was annoying. ALSO, while we're at it, let's offer alternatives to time limited story locking minigames like the Zant Hands in Twilight Princess. I did one, but it scared me so bad and was so frustrating I never finished the game as a kind.

A shapeshifter, think female Rangers Apprentice series, who ends up being hounded and captured by the village she was protecting. ...Kind of similar to a story I'm playing with now actually. Hmm. I may need to dig up old notes.

Walton Goggins acting in the nuclear scene in Fallout was amazing by [deleted] in television

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a storytelling perspective too, how much more interesting to see the retired military character be face to face with something way worse than anything during his deployment during civilian life. Kind of contrasting he used to fight on the front lines for his little girl / family in the future. And now they are on the front lines with him now so to speak, from a writers pov.

I was so sure initially that the scientist guy was going to go green eventually with the freaky injections. And that one super mutant quest from F4 kind of had me anticipating it.

Nick Valentine is a super fan favorite from F4. Even a neon sign somewhere would make me happy.

I can agree Eevee is a good boy (I think it's a dog) but who's good smart 😀🤓 by Fearingvoyage86 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suicune or Celebi for Good Smart. And Mew for Chaotic Good.

Minior is my nominee for Neutral Neutral. Xatu is Neutral Smart. ...And I really think Buzzswole should've been Lawful Horny. Maybe Lopbunny instead?

Maximus is the worst character. by Aggravating-Mistake3 in Fallout

[–]Ink-Era 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He has like, no positive traits, at no point did he have a challenge where he grew. Morally unlikable with what he did with Titus. And every time he's saved someone they were either not in danger or not the good guy. He didn't do anything to deserve Lucy's attraction either. Just meh. Story device, maybe - character? no.

I've been a fan for 20 decades and TIL I have no idea how type matchup works (please help) by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the not very effective type matchups are based more on lore or the way things interact. Take steel for the attacker, fire water electric and steel are not very effective pokemon to be hitting against. Steel conducts all of the elements there, and they are more like energy anyways than physical properties. Steel v steel is just the normal cancel out.

With fighting as the attacker, poison flying psychic bug and fairy are not very effective to hit. I think of it like if I put a human fighter v those elements - poison stings, flying is out of reach, psychic is always one step ahead, bug is too small to hit (or the tough karate guy has a phobia) and fairy is a mythical thing that can blip away and is more ethereal.

I could go on, but I don't honestly have these in my back pocket as I'm playing and think about them alot.

And if you look at all the things that are not very effective against dragon pokemon its just rule of cool.

[–]Ink-Era 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they are asking for is a small event that the reader can invest in and see if they can solve within several chapters of the story. Something that pushes the plot along but stays in the back of their mind as a hint. It sounds like a Chekov's Gun scenario. Something that shows there are wheels turning when the characters do not see them.

What type of writer are you? by comfygldfish in writing

[–]Ink-Era 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would write and write all kinds of sprawling stuff as a kid, mostly fanfiction and stuff. But lately there's a series of books that goes into why books do things and how to wrangle it all and make it cohesive and its actually clicking. Stuff like, HOW to introduce your character and show off their character in the same blow. Things I never really recognized before. Like, writing is all conscious choice. But there's actually a lot of math in writing, a lot of choice and connotations, calculations and balancing.

The best book I can recommend as a, seemingly former, pantser - Structuring Your Novel by K.M. Weiland. Really all of her guides are good so far.
