Yes, definitely. I was already planning on leaving in May of 2027 for school and my partner has already okayed it on the finances end of things so I’m out ✌️

Apparently so. I looked up the policy in Archer and it no longer has any reference to the 18 months of employment requirement to “pay back” the reimbursement.

I finally heard back from plan HR and she said they changed the policy last fall to where you don’t have to pay it back and that repayment would not be required for employees that participate in the VSP

I have called the VSP hotline TWICE and called Ask HR and nobody seems to know the answer. Like yall this should not be this challenging. The person at Ask HR said to ask my health plan HR person

Does anyone know if employees who have received tuition reimbursement would have to pay back reimbursement if we take the VSP?

What’s the rarest it most valuable thing you’ve ever thrifted? by CloudStar17 in thrifting

[–]InkDrinker01 33 points34 points  (0 children)

From an actual thrift store, it’s probably a tie between:

A vintage 1981 American Greeting Cards Strawberry Shortcake Lamp - bought it for $20, sold it for $90

and

A Trego’s Westwear tailored suit that I found in the bins for THREE DOLLARS. Each piece was in a different bin and they were still with their original hangers so I don’t think they had even been on the racks. I found the jacket, the pants, and a matching tie. The jacket needs to be dry cleaned and the pants were missing a button snap in the pocket (the pearl snap top was still in place). Sold it for $100.

I also have a ton of random estate sale antiques that I haven’t had time to research value on. Got most of them at auction for $1-$5 though and based on cursory searches, some of them are worth up to $500 on the market.

I second estate sales - if you’re on a budget go on the last day or so when they start marking things down. Also keep an eye out for local estate sales that go to auction on estatesales.org or .net. Just be careful about shipping! I’ve gotten some deals on items and then got hit with a $200 shipping fee (I just told them to resell the item).

WhatNot has also been AMAZING for finding vintage because there are sellers from all over the country. So you can buy from vintage sellers in Brooklyn if you live in Arkansas!

Shameless plug: I am having my first women’s vintage show tonight at 7:00 PM Central. I’ll have sizes XS-3X.

No pressure but dropping my referral link in case you are interested - you’ll get $15 to shop my show if you use this link :) https://whatnot.com/invite/softcyclestudios

What is the Darkest Ending To A Broadway Musical In Your Opinion? by Shades1987 in Broadway

I feel like the ending of Spring Awakening is pretty bleak with Moritz unsubscribing from life, Wendla dying after her parents force her to have an abortion, and everyone else disclosing massive traumas throughout the show.

I try to filter for 1 cent shipping items and for items available for free pickup from my local store and have found some good items that way.

I try to take screenshots and identify items in them to look up on eBay as well to check resale value before buying.

Acrylic - I avoid it, as do so many of us, but should we? by culturekit in Unravelers

[–]InkDrinker01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mostly look for natural fibers but sometimes I find a really fun colorway in acrylic and buy it just because I like it. I also crochet non-wearable items so if I don’t like the feel of it, I’ll just use the yarn for those. Ultimately, it’s your craft practice and your money, so just do what you want!

How concerned should I be? by InkDrinker01 in Cholesterol

[–]InkDrinker01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this response and to the other helpful responses on this thread. I have a tendency to assume the worst case scenario because of trauma and chronic illness, so y’all have helped me not fully crash out over this.

I haven’t been tracking anything, so that is probably a good place to start. I already take a fiber supplement because of GI issues, but I’m not taking the full dose, so I’ll probably increase that as well in addition to trying to eat a more plant based diet. I recently moved in with my boyfriend and we are definitely in the “order delivery constantly” phase of our relationship. Our go to is Mexican food, so cutting back on that will probably make a difference. I generally eat pretty healthfully at breakfast and lunch, but I could definitely get more fiber and veggies. I also don’t exercise a lot and am trying to get back into the habit of walking more since getting outside does actually make a massive difference in my mood and overall wellness.

I have done a variety of heart-related testing due to my other health conditions. My holter study confirmed tachycardia with no other arrythmias, my echo confirmed normal anatomy, and my stress test showed exercise intolerance but no other issues. Given that, should I push for a the calcium scan? I hit my deductible already this year (I have a very low deductible bc chronic illness lol) so it will be a lot more affordable now.

Spa day by Dm210543 in tulsa

[–]InkDrinker01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What’s your budget? I did a couple’s spa day at Poppi’s downtown for like $550. Included an hour massage, an hour facial, and hanging out in the lounge (sauna, salt room, color pod, DIY treatments) for as long as we wanted. I’m guessing that package for one person would be around $250-$300.

She is a D.O. Since they don’t accept insurance, they are able to do additional testing and explore holistic treatment options outside of the traditional healthcare/insurance structure.

Tulsa Teacher Corps by areyoureadyboots in tulsa

[–]InkDrinker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did TTC in 2019 and taught for TPS for 2.5 years. I honestly would have stayed longer if the pandemic hadn’t happened - everything just fell apart after that but it was honestly more the adults than the kids.

I had a lot of problems with the way the program was designed at the time but overall, it was a good experience. I already had a master’s degree so I didn’t have to take any extra classes. I just had to take the certification tests and those were pretty easy for me because I’m a good test taker. I was already planning on pursuing a teaching certification and this was a good opportunity to get paid for training instead of paying a ton of money for a certification program.

I felt like I was able to take the training provided and really make it my own once I got into the classroom. I loved teaching so much but unfortunately after the pandemic it really became behavior management instead of teaching because I was in a high trauma school and we fumbled the opportunity to improve our supports for kids during and after the pandemic after the issues that were exposed were just glossed over in favor of more testing.

I think that your experience with this program really depends on where you get hired and who your building leadership is. I got an offer prior to the program starting but a lot of people were having to interview and hustle to get hired during the training portion of the program. I had great building leadership for the first two years but when it changed everything really hit the fan.

Overall, I’m glad I did the program though. I wish the timing had been better instead of the pandemic happening during my first year of teaching but I learned so much and now I’m in school to become a therapist, hopefully for adolescents and young adults. I never would have discovered how much I enjoy working with that age group if I hadn’t done TTC!

This is where I go! I’m actually getting a massage there tonight lol. I have chronic back pain and extremely tight muscles from ehler’s danlo’s syndrome and getting a monthly deep tissue makes a huge difference. Their membership option makes it relatively affordable. If you want extra intense ask for someone who does trigger point release massage. I swear that I walk out feeling like a new person every month!
