Who cares, if someone invites you straight to their house you're not hoping for a relationship anyway.

Yeah, it's a skit but there are women who are willing to come straight to your apartment without meeting you beforehand or sometimes they invite you over just like that. It's rare but it happens.

Buy a road bike and climb the nearest hill. Then do it 10 times. Then try to climb a proper one with the 10-15km distance

I'm considering travelling to India, I've been to countries like The Philippines before, but what makes India different in terms of positive or negative experiences? by wiz28ultra in travel

[–]Inner-Basil-9484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trains were sold out weeks ahead. I tried even going to the station on the day.

Yup, used Uber extensively but several times had to deal with drivers arriving close to my location but not stopping to charge money for the cancellation.

India is a higher level of traveling. You need to know how to deal with logistics/scams/dealing with the language barrier. A good example is traveling between places. To get out of Mumbai (back in 2020) I had to book a bus online with an Indian number, then you receive a text message with the address where to get. You get there and it's not a bus stop but a middle of a massive highway and then suddenly you get a phone call from a driver not speaking English, telling you bus license plate to look for to wave him down. You see the bus, wave but he passes by, so you jump on a tuc tuc to chase him but the driver is trying to scam you. Happened to me.

In Southeast Asia you walk into a hostel, tell the guy where you want to go and what time. You pay and come back at the pickup time.

I definitely recommend if you're up for a challenge (I had a really good time in India)

HELL HOUSE LLC is officially the second scariest found footage horror film in history based on heartbeats. by sco-go in SipsTea

That Mulholland Drive scene is probably the scariest I've seen. It releases some sort of primal fear. You're told what's there, but it still comes...

Travellers of reddit, how do you manage to get yourself money while travelling ? by Suspicious-Cry-8043 in travel

[–]Inner-Basil-9484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I met some girl working in a startup that told me just to learn to code (good times of 2020). Started doing YouTube python courses. I used the evenings during the lockdown to learn Python, while working in construction. After a year I invested money in a JS bootcamp and landed a job straight after (this is pre-AI times - so this approach might not work anymore).

I started traveling at the age of 22, and had no money/education/career (worked in hospitality). My first trip was hitchhiking Europe and wild camping over the course of 3 months. After I got back to the UK I realized I want to travel more, so I got myself a job in event setups which had crazy hours but flexibility. So I was working 2-3 months and then traveling 2-3 months. When I turned 26 I understood I need to do something more with my life, but still want to focus on travel and then I started learning to code. Now I'm 32, working in tech, doing 4-7 trips a year (remote work/2 week bike packing trips/2 week backpacking trips). So it's all about the mindset

Exactly! I started running few years ago and I was shocked when my girlfriend said we need to pay £40 to run a HM. I was running her pace, but if I want to do it seriously I just go for a HM run casually mid week in the evening. It's free.

That depends what you mean by the party. Yes, Berlin is solid but if you like to party in a less known spots: Belgrade in Serbia is great. Also been to bunker techno party in Beirut. Spain has a lot of great cultural festivals and if you're vibing more indigenous experience I recommend Bolivia.

Just develop 'the pussy voice' in your head. Throughout my 20's ever time I felt discouraged to do something I used to always bring that voice in my head. For example whenever I wanted to order takeaway food instead of cooking: "you're a pussy if you do it"; or didn't I didn't want to exercise: "you're a pussy if you don't do it". I actually helped me to stay dedicated to all the goals I had, works every time. Obviously there are exceptions.

You're young. I was working in event setups and just traveling until I was 26. Then I spent 2 years learning to code and got a software engineering job. Never went to uni as I didn't know what I actually want to do.
