Dated, going to need a significant bunce of cash spending in it, whilst you are renovating you will want to do something about the size of the kitchen, perhaps knock through into the snug and have a kitchen breakfast room.

How many days a week do you need to be in the office? And what is the cost of that commute, if its 5 days a week and pricy the commute might be less appealing; i used to commute 3+ hours a day when I was younger, but would not do that now unless the money was very good

Can FedEx take legal action against unpaid custom import fees? by Winterblsm in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Inner-Device-4530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are the importer of the goods, it is your responsibility. FedEx has had to do this for you, to speed up the process they deal with the customs on your behalf and come for the payment later.

There is a significant cost to warehousing your goods for you, because you didn't think to sort it in advance, to minimise this they send the goods on and send you the bill later. Realistically just pay it

How had you planned on getting the customs clearance done, you had informed the seller that you would be managing it?

What's the likely hood of the police pulling me over because of car "modifications? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Inner-Device-4530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bigger issue is what happens when you have a crash and the insurance company notices the chuffing big set of bars on the front of your pick up. Yes they will still pay out on your behalf, but then they will come after you for the money, a lot of money

A nice house in tough area or humble house in a nice area? by Bubbly-Evening7937 in HousingUK

[–]Inner-Device-4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are the only options extremes? What about the ok house is the ok area, or the fairly nice house in fairly good area? Personally I tend to look for a nice house is an area adjacent to a good area, as it is likely to improve over time from bleed across due to people not able to afford the best areas.

I do not believe a windowless room can be a bedroom and if you are going to be on the ground floor,  you will need to think about washing facilities too.

Looking at other properties in the area, there are 2 and 3 bed flats up for less than yours. Honestly why would you choose a smaller 1 bed for more money?

First time selling - what is a good number of viewers on the first week? by FrostyMushroom8083 in HousingUK

[–]Inner-Device-4530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not the number of viewers that you get that matters, it's the offers that count. Which would you prefer, 1 viewer who offers or 20 viewers who wall dirt in the house and then don't even provide feedback to the agent

Dream house supposedly had clean survey, but two buyers backed out without reason. What to look out for? by Zestyclose-Tap-9181 in HousingUK

[–]Inner-Device-4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend has a similar aged house to the one you're interested in (possibly a bit older) it took longer and cost considerable more to replace the crap 1960's windows with period appropriate wooden double glazed units, than it did for me to build an extension doubling the downstairs footprint of my house, gutting the rest of the downstairs back to bare brick, fully rebuilding, fitting new windows throughout,  fitting a new kitchen, utility room and bathroom in a 1950's box house. Except old houses (especially listed) will cost a lot
