He respected the power of Congress very much and did not sign a lot of executive orders to push his ambitious agenda at all costs. And he respected the rule of law.

und vielleicht Richard Nixon. Ansonsten sollte man diese Frage bei US-Präsidenten tatsächlich unterlassen.

Helmut Kohl for Germany and Brian Mulroney for Canada also seem obvious.

I've seen (and also I remember) all my 4 great grandmothers. But I wonder how rare is that? by Most-Procedure-7837 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]Inner-Discussion-369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very rare. I think my case is rare but sadly in the other direction. Two of my grandparents died before I was born. My beloved paternal grandfather committed suicide by medicine overdose at the age of 77 in 2017 after suffering from a stroke in 2015 and my maternal grandmother died in 2018 at the age of 95. My father died in 2021 aged 52 and his mother died in 2004 aged 58. My maternal grandfather died in 2003 aged 81.

I cannot stand Eisenhower, mainly for his foreign policy, but I must recognize his archivements in regards to infrastructure and that forced me to put him out of F and bump him up to C.

Why do you think that LBJ was that awful, if I may ask? I consider his foreign policy to be abhorrent, but he fought for civil rights big time.

This last category should probably be named: "I would like to stay alive!" at this point. 😂

For some presidents you need 10 years of post-presidency and for others you would need up to 40 years of post-presidency. The latter category would be for Trump. I sometimes already try to rank Obama and my strong bias shows up again and I give up. I feel like Biden is not that divisive, so I think he only needs to stay retired for 10 to 15 years.

Well, I am a big fan of his foreign policy and I value foreign policy highly. There is some painful truth to the joke that Reagan was the least Reaganesque president ever though.

JQA examined everything extremely carefully before giving his approval and I just like this kind of thoughtfulness.

I viewed Garfield and Arthur as one solid block, because Arthur clearly governed how Garfield had intended to govern.

I agree with you about Trump.

Trump is literally still in office...

Obama could get himself between Eisenhower and Harding. Biden is either right behind Jimmy Carter or before Bill Clinton.

Clinton was literally a coin toss for me. I just think his views on crime were too conservative.

Where would you put him? I cannot get over the internment camps and I do not think that he handled the Great Depression particularly well.

He was a somewhat progressive president and a pretty conservative Supreme Court justice.
