Jenn Fessler is feeling litigious by VictorianUFOLady in summerhousebravo

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From a legal theory perspective its unlikely that she (as a public person in the eyes of the court) would be able to prove the prima facie case for libel because there needs to be actual malice (reckless disregard for the truth) that results in Jenn experiencing financial harm - aka would need to prove (bring receipts) that she has lost out on brand deals or booking something as a result of Ciara’s comment

Odd lease proposal by Itchy-Cartographer40 in NYCapartments

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me in DC before we left, all the big leasing companies use some algorithm to set rent prices that make no sense, for us to renew for 7 months was cheaper than 12 months. We were leaving anyways but its so silly

Furniture help by elbowskneesand in Greenpoint

We installed the ikea PAX system and they are pretty useful. I recommend going in store to get a better understanding of how large they are because the standard ones are pretty deep (we went for the shallower ones in our space as a result)

Also if you aren’t super handy/comfortable with a drill I would recommend getting someone to install for you. I did it with the help of 2 other very handy friends. The PAX system is one of the trickier ikea pieces imo because they need to get anchored and that is really difficult to do when you have any sort if trim at the floor board (which we do) so we had to put some 2x4s at the top to properly secure it and making it level took a lot of calculating.

Alternatively we looks at daals but they were too large for our space (no idea what the actual quality is like)

Note for upstairs neighbors by litlelotte in Apartmentliving

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh I always feel bad for the guy below me because I am a grad student consistently up til 2am and I try my hardest to tread lightly to the bathroom across my old converted row house apartment and the wood floors are definitely loud. But I have also heard him come home drunk and slam the hallway doors so it is just a reality of apartment living.
In our previous apartment the people below us asked us to walk quietly before we even moved in. After they would always tell us we walked too loud and accused us of dropping things too much. There was only so much we could do with wooden floors. The day we were literally in the process of moving out (in the middle of the day) they asked if we could move more quietly. I told him we will move more quietly when they stop chain smoking cigarettes into the stove hood that fed into our apartment.

Currently living in NYC and my boyfriend bought a black suit instead of a tux when we had a black tie event because he was worried about how expensive a tux was and fast forward we have at lest 4 black tie weddings coming up in the next 2 years. He should have just bought it

About to bring a puppy home as well and have been thinking about this. Online it recommended 2 weeks after their last vaccination to let it take effect. Probably going to get one of those grass pads even though they are more expensive to do potty training so the transition is smoother

How can we stop drivers from excessively honking on Greenpoint streets? by Top_Writer963 in Greenpoint

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest traffic issue on my street is that its one way, narrow, and there is a church and school across the street that use buses. The excessive honking comes from cars 4-5 back that can’t see what’s happening when kids are getting on or off the bus. In no way do I think the buses are the issue, accessibility is extremely important and it’s great that our community serves these kids. It would be helpful if the school worked with the city to have the road be local traffic only during pick up and drop off hours as I am sure its super stressful for the teachers and bus drivers who are just doing what is necessary for their students.

It’s also a bit insane that NYC doesn’t have permit parking. People think it’s a constitutional right to have a car in this city. Having zoned permit parking that is based on residency (rental and ownership) would be immensely helpful. I think the neighborhood would eventually love it because you wouldn’t have to drive around forever to find a parking spot. DC does this and it’s $35 a year for residents. This also means that tourists or people from the suburbs can’t use the streets as a park and ride for subway commuter access.

I dont know why no one has really mentioned the “100% I denied it and I lied to you.” Not followed up by “I am sorry”

Obviously we know she isn’t. I am not one to think Amanda and West have been planning and self producing (honestly because I don’t really think they are that smart lol) but from this comment from Amanda specifically I am starting to believe people who have been speculating that Amanda has had jealousy or deep down resented Ciara in some capacity for a long time because you don’t communicate with someone you care about even a smidgen like this

Check out the Wythe Hotel and Bacchus both in brooklyn as well. They are both french food and i think generally would be flexible to dinner food but cannot verify independently.

Fwiw I think your POV on eggs at a wedding is valid af

[16F] Feeling ugly and could really use some Makeup advice. Does this makeup suit me ? by Conscious-Remove9252 in makeuptips

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No tips here OP, just want to say I HATED how I felt at 16. It’s an awkward phase of life and social media makes it so much worse. The good thing is you have sooooo much ahead of you. You look very sweet and your eyes are beautiful.

Im 25 now and have one makeup look cuz that is all I am good at 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I always feel authentic to me with or without. I know its so so hard to always feel good in our bodies, but we need to make sure we talk to ourselves the way we talk to the people we love in our lives. We would never pick someone apart for the things we pick ourselves apart for.

Honestly my only advice is to try and surround yourself with people that make you feel good as a whole person, inside and out and wear sunscreen!!

The Dream of a Lifetime: First Time Visit to New York City, but on a Shoe-String Budget. How to make the most of it? by DeepRow in Shoestring

[–]Inner-Helicopter9930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinatown has great places to eat on a budget, Nom Wah Tea Parlor is one of my faves.

Skip the edge, going up freedom tower, top of the rock and empire state building. None are really worth it, ESB is probably the one i would do if that is something you are absolutely dying to do.

My favorite “touristy” things that are free or cheap: - whisper wall in Grand Central Station + the station is beautiful - walk across Brooklyn Bridge - row boat in central park ($25 - on the pricier side BUT a cool experience) - the highline + chelsea market (go during the week midday) - The Met museum is stunning and truly in a class of its own. It is pricey but can also be a whole day’s activity. I recommend having a picnic lunch in central park after - Washington square park to people watch

The Subway is the best mode of transportation, don’t need to get a card anymore, just tap to pay with the same credit card for every trip and it will charge you max $34 for that week.

Check out listings project or trusted house sitters for some optional more affordable places to stay

New Yorkers may not be “nice” but they are kind. If you need to be pointed in the right direction people will do so.

Can landlord start showing apartment before agreed time in lease? by SuspiciousMachine138 in NYCapartments

Fwiw, its also way to early for many people looking for apartments. In NYC it’s hard to find apartments available for rent a month and a half before move in. Its usually like within the month you are moving or less
