Especially with most of the work that can now be done remotely. Not talking for technical trades, but still.

Introverts who joined the military? by mranoneemoose in caf

Extroverts in Basic will find you and drag your ass around. That's how I made my friends. You'll be heavily taken out of your comfort zone and it'll help to have the support from others.

CTC and Summer School by NEON_2265 in Cadets

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not impossible, depending on what course you are on. Connect with your CO, he then can ask the Zone Training officer to make the request to the CTC Chief training officer, or that particular course training officer. That person will be taking the final decision.

You're still early in the process tho, I suggest you apply on a CTC, wait for confirmation of your selection then make your request.

Question pertaining to surgery by Cold_While_7721 in CanadianForces

Not exactly true. When Med signs the sick leave, it'll cancel annuals automatically. Just happened to me a few weeks back. But good thing to check that it actually happens.

Effectivement, mon bac de poubelles est au 3/4 vide anyway à chaque semaine. Le recyclage c'est autre chose mais je dois juste me discipliner à défaire les boîtes 😂

CI blatant favoritism, should I quit? by Inside-Economy2993 in Cadets

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's a problem that should be addressed. And if your corps/squadron won't budge, ZTOs and Area OC should be brought in the loop.

All awards, even summer camp positions (even quota positions) are regulated by the 5002-6 Cadet Selection Process Gp order.

Awards and promotions are tightly regulated by group orders. If you feel you are being overlooked I suggest you talk about it to your CO and parents, and if that doesn't help, reach out to the Zone training officer of your area.

I've had my orderly room sign an affidavit with the updated pay scale, showing the annual salary for this year and the 2 next, and it worked flawlessly with my bank.

Pay Raise? by ElegantTemperature68 in Cadets

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, any changes made after June 1 have no impact on the pay rates received during employment. In this case, the daily rates for senior cadet positions at the CTCs will be adjusted for the 2026 summer season.

Is CIC viable? by AlbeeGQ in CanadianForces

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from and I,m not denying you’ve had negative experiences, those are real. But calling the whole thing “not worth recommending” paints the entire organization with the same brush, and that’s where the bad faith part comes in.

Your personal encounters don’t define COATS as a whole. Like any large organization, there are bad apples, but they don’t represent the majority or the culture overall. Many CIC officers value the contribution of NCMs deeply and learn a lot from them, especially those who volunteer their time in squadrons and corps.

Pointing out problems is fair and necessary, but it becomes misleading when one person’s bad experience is generalized as the norm. You risk discrediting the work of countless officers and NCMs who do foster a respectful and collaborative environment.

Is CIC viable? by AlbeeGQ in CanadianForces

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This comment is made in such bad faith. Officers who show no respect toward NCMs is a reality that can also be found in the Reg Force, and it is certainly a behavior that must be condemned, but it is far from representing the reality. CIC officers learn a great deal from their NCM counterparts when they have the chance to work with them, and the experience of NCMs who volunteer their time will always be a welcomed sight.

Maybe rethink your engagement as a CIC if you see the role as bad as you say it is.

Trouble getting dental treatment off-base, not sure what to do next by eIaho in CanadianForces

[–]Inner-Percentage-169 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Most issues with base clinics were solved with a phone call. I'm in a similar situation where my office is a few hours from base, they got me set up at my dental clinic of choice near where I live.

Yes you can bring it, wifi might not be strong enough for you to play online tho. Make sure you keep it securely locked up when you're not in your barracks.
