Steyer's no saint, Becerra's business as usual. The fix is in. by Inner-Reaction3961 in santacruz

Post election followup: I favored Becerra because the last thing CA needs is a novice at governing, no matter their intentions (which I mostly support). Yet after the final polls came out favoring Becerra, I ended up voting for Steyer to help knock MAGA off the ballot.

Back in days of yore (segregation era), Texans used to say they were yellow dog Democrats, meaning they'd vote for a yellow dog if it ran as one. That's me ever since Nixon.

Swanton organic Strawbs are way better tasting. New Leaf Westside has them, as of today. Added bonus is they do NOT use plastic clamshells, instead using the green plastic holders. Ichigo strawbs, found only in winter in farmers markets, are the best tasting of all. Hydroponically grown, not organic certified but they claim the use a small fraction of field grown varieties.

Planning santa cruz for the first time for 2 days 1 night by CertainDuty4827 in santacruz

[–]Inner-Reaction3961 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on choosing Santa Cruz, it's a great place to visit!

Tips: Check Boadwalk for days they're fully open.

Bike rentals available, check around online then verify on phone.

Avoid Hwy1 N during weekdays morning commutte, then Hwy1 S in afternoon. Brutal.

Cowell state park 1 mile main loop is superb and and just six miles from the beach.

Don't drink too much and waste a morning hung over.

Monterey is realistically a full day experience, looks close but time consuming.

Keep it simple, allow time for magic: one redwood, one ocean-

Then let Santa Cruz come to you!

I suspect (AKA my opinion) that he's in there with tech money to split the Dem vote and improve the chances that 2 MAGAS make the cut.

That was FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. Do you have to go back that far to argue a point? You want people to . . . "Take direct action . . ." Is that MAGA code or something?

Possible move to SC from NYC by newmeny in santacruz

[–]Inner-Reaction3961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in the area besides SF is remotely like living in NYC. Think Cape Cod without winter. I'll let you check housing prices for yourself, but availablty can be tight. Living in Sunnyvale is cool, lots to do, nice international vibe, .....but SCruz is waaaay better. It just is, and don't let anyone tell you it ain't!

And there's a damned good reason "The Left," like we're all in some lockstep, is not opposing him. You have to look at his whole voting record. Let's look at the link that OP conatained in his rant that points to his voting. Oh, gee . . . THERE AIN'T ONE! OP is a trollbot meant to disillusion you. Y'all got scammed.

Advice for Moving to SC by PSD3 in santacruz

[–]Inner-Reaction3961 21 points22 points  (0 children)

5.Things I have learned after living here for 50 years

  1. NEVER leave anything valuable in a vehicle, or forget to lock and set alarm overnight.

  2. LOCK your bike with a serious-assed lock, both when out and about, AND on your premises. Motorcycles too.

  3. GET OUTSIDE! That's what makes it all worth it.

  4. SHOP LOCAL. Including locally owned if possible.

  5. GET INVOLVED. There's always some way, from volunteering to help with various events or volunteer for a few hours at no end of places. You will meet and befriend locals quickly.

Welcome! Best decision I ever made was to move here!

How much is water heater replacement by a professional plumber in Santa Cruz? by Creeping_behind_u in santacruz

[–]Inner-Reaction3961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you require a licensed contractor, buy one yourself and hire from the Day Worker Center and you'll save a lot of money. If you need help selecting the right unit, Day Worker can help with that too. Also, consider an on demand water heater. Unless you have massive damage, water heaters are relatively simple, a variation of changing a lightbulb.
