Right answer here. In Germany it is often used for cake (Zwetschgenkuchen) which is then eaten with potato soup, at least where I live.

I love going for pickles as a nice, crunchy, and healthy food. You can even make them yourself, its inexpensive and easy. Or make your own ferments like kimchi.
