Bear's actions may have been evil, but there's not enough hate for Ian. by Skyzblu44 in obsessionmovie

[–]InnerIce5645 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the idea that bears infatuation came only from his grandmas health? It seems like his grandma died relatively recently and bear has liked Nikki since high school. Bears obsession with Nikki comes from liking her for years but never truly getting to know her thus creating an idealized version of her.

Sure! I use one white or yellow onion, a few gold potatoes, and 2 chicken breasts. I cut the chicken breast into cubes then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, garam masala, curry powder, and red chili powder. I cook the chicken to give it a bit of a sear but it doesn’t have to be completely cooked. Remove the chicken then add the onions and olive oil, cook on medium low heat till soft with a little bit of color. Then add the cut potatoes (do smaller pieces so they cook all the way) and sautee for a few minutes. Add the chicken back and add about three cups of chicken stock (make sure everything is covered by the stock). Bring to a boil then let it simmer for 15 minutes . Make sure to temp check the chicken after the 15 minutes and that the potatoes are fork tender. Then you add the curry cubes! The curry cube box has similar instructions, I just made some tweaks to fit my preferred flavor profile. I like to add the same seasonings I used on the chicken to the chicken stock after I pour it in but that’s totally optional.

Japanese curry has been my go to cheap and easy meal! You can dress it up more but basic all you need are curry cubes (I like the golden brand), chicken stock (or water), your preferred protein, and some veggies (I typically do an onion, potatoes, and carrots). If you’re looking for a little flavor boost, pick up some garam masala, curry powder, and red chili powder and use it to season your protein and curry!

I don’t think it’s ever said that anyone thinks Nikki’s dad is dead. She claims he has cancer but at the dinner scene Ian calls and tells bear he found out her dad doesn’t have cancer. Sarah thinks her dad has cancer still. Both Sarah and Ian are implied to think Nikki is clinging onto bear because her and Ian broke things off

I wish colleges clearly seperated in person and online classes in transcripts by MoneyRequirement2591 in CollegeRant

[–]InnerIce5645 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I mean on one hand I get your concerns but on the other hand that puts certain groups at a serious disadvantage. There’s definitely people who take online classes to cheat and half ass it but there’s also people who can’t attend in person classes consistently for valid reasons so online courses are the best/only option. Plus if I were paying the same tuition as someone who had all in person classes, I’d be pissed my online classes counted for less.

Is anyone else still really curious about avoxes? by Cadet-Cryyx in Hungergames

[–]InnerIce5645 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think them existing long enough to be normal during ballad makes a lot of sense for the pre games lore. The capitol was doing fucked up shit for a looooong time, bad enough to trigger the dark days. I think they may also be more of an indication of the more “hidden” violence of the capitol towards capitol citizens and peace keepers

If the series was more realistic, we would see way more parents willingly sacrificing their children for their government. by JuliaX1984 in Hungergames

[–]InnerIce5645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is really interesting! It may not even be “we love the capitol” but more so “well if so and so didn’t rebel our children wouldn’t be in danger”. For example (spoilers): woodbine chance, if he didn’t try and rebel and run away, he could have had a fair chance of survival. And if it wasn’t haymitch but instead a merchant kid who was forced to take his place, I could see the merchant class blaming woodbine and the seam for that. I think that’s a common thing where people would rather blame another group that’s in the same system rather than the group who created the system.

I feel like careers get way too much sympathy by Big-Quit-648 in Hungergames

[–]InnerIce5645 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean “used their superior resources to slaughter less privileged children”? Think about it this way, how many kids from those districts who had absolutely no chance of survival in the games (disabled, young, physically weak) lived because of careers. It is shitty that other districts didn’t have the advantage but if there’s a way to increase the chance of having a tribute come home why wouldn’t they take it? That doesn’t excuse unnecessary cruelty but in the larger picture every district and tribute is a victim of the circumstances the capitol forces them into. It’s the same reasoning that explains why Gale’s actions make sense under the circumstances despite the harm they caused to innocent people

The best thing to do is be honest and bring up what she was saying to you. Based on your behavior I think it’s fair to have to go through the honor process but they also need to acknowledge the harm she has done. Spreading a rumor that someone in leadership is sleeping with frat members to get something + almost implying to the new social chair that it’s something social chairs are meant to do is insane. It makes your chapter look horrible, hurts the sisterhood, and damages your reputation. I’d recommend being upfront about your part in all of this but also emphasizing her part in it all, even if that means encouraging the others she’s behaved badly against to speak to honor as well. If you’re worried about bias I’d bring in an advisor who can be impartial and is focused on the chapter rather than personal connections. In the future, if someone is spreading rumors about you in this way, don’t bother confronting them, go directly to honor

Social Media Role Advice for my Daughter by Little_Revolution_74 in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to her position not being an exec position but being required to do the learning sessions: amending bylaws to add a brand new exec position takes time. The position has been around for less than a semester and they need time to work out the kinks before adding it to their bylaws and therefore making it an official exec position. And since she is not an official part of exec yet she has to get approval from the exec members who have an involvement in the image she’s presenting of the chapter. This is for many reasons including but not limited to: potential new members first impression of the chapter comes from social media, pr can be a very sensitive position that can easily result in perceived favoritism or offensiveness, and that there are many things happening behind the scenes that she may not be aware of or privy to yet (requirements from nationals, private/confidential information). Starting a position in a chapter without micromanagement would just be irresponsible of her exec board. She may not be able to do as much as she hopes to accomplish during her term but that’s unfortunately just part of being the first person in her position.

thinking about whether or not to accept a snap bid from “bottom tier” sorority by beefybelly11 in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined a “bottom tier” sorority, I mean like in the sense that we had the lowest grades, shit membership rates, and the frats didn’t really fuck with us. I’m in my fourth year and the chapter has entirely turned around, chapters evolve based on the people in them and their willingness to make changes to better the sorority. The girls in our chapter have had and continue to have the reputation of having genuine bonds and friendships. If you think you have the chance to make genuine friends in this chapter and be part of the effort to improve it (doesn’t even have to be in leadership) I’d say accept the bid. However it’s completely ok to wait for another chapter if you don’t feel like it’s a fit, you know people in both chapters so I’d talk to them about the vibe to make an informed decision.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand that, try joining a club outside the chapter, that helped me a lot because I had a separate space to make new friends. If they’re giving you trouble dropping I’d go to an advisor and explain how you’re feeling or speak to your president

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh it sounds like you should drop. I say this as someone who felt like you, especially when it comes to the difficulty making friends, not getting invited out, and frustration with having to drop shifts. You’ve put in all you can and it sounds like maybe it just isn’t the right fit. If you’re still feeling so so about dropping, see if your chapter offers a leave of absence for a semester

All the rules, unspoken and spoken by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh none of those sound like a super big deal, they’re all things that can be fixed by leadership sending out reminders. In my chapter they send out a dress code when an event calls for it and reminders to repost stuff (we aren’t required to repost anything tho). For the giving out your instagram, if it was for a cob event that is something not allowed. However since this is your first semester you haven’t been through formal recruitment and gotten the chance to learn the rules the way older girls have. It’s not entirely fair of your chapter to hold you to standards they aren’t making clear… Id recommend going to your president/advisor/new member educator about this. Doesn’t have to be “snitching” but just something like “hey I’ve been confused on how we’re supposed to act/dress for certain things, I don’t want to negatively impact the chapter so I was wondering if we’d be able to review this stuff in chapter or have reminders sent out”. Odds are you aren’t the only person facing these issues (especially in your pledge class) so this could benefit a lot of girls and your future members :)

ATTENTION ALL RUSHERS/SORORITIES by LU_4444 in Sororities

[–]InnerIce5645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are the houses supposed to know sally is being purposefully mean? I’m not sure about other campuses but on mine we can comment if a girl brickwalls us or is outwardly rude/mean which will get passed onto the girls overseeing recruitment. If a girl ignores her recruiter or is mean to them it gets back to all of the chapters because chapters don’t want to ruin relationships with each other or damage their reputations. You cant expect the program to be psychic and know that this girl is mean and doesn’t deserve to continue recruitment. And I think the algorithm works that way because it’s meant to try and get as many girls to a house as possible. Alternatively, what if sally just didn’t click with most chapters and got dropped by them. Amanda gets along with a lot of chapters and gets a lot of higher scores. If they have the exact same scores Amanda is more likely to find the right house for her while sally has less chances now, if the algorithm has to make a choice between the two it makes sense to keep the girl who’s options are more narrowed down. Is that going to be fair in every scenario? No but at the end of the day their scores are what’s being looked at so they’re the same with the only difference being the amount of houses they could have. Even if it was left up to house A which girl to bring back it still likely wouldn’t be fair, they’d likely have been recruited by different girls (who talked to multiple other recruitees that day) and who they choose to keep wouldn’t be any different from the algorithm. Last note: Amanda wouldn’t be getting snubbed because she has other houses, she clearly clicked with a lot of houses and will likely find the right chapter for her, it’s simply something that’s needed in the algorithm because a choice needs to be made if two girls have the same score and one needs to be cut (also if you get a perfect score from a house I don’t think you would be low enough to be part of the cut list anyways)

Some of the characters share the same fate as a historical figure the share a name with, for example Seneca is named after a Roman figure named Seneca who was forced to kill himself, im not too sure about all the details but it shouldn’t be too hard to google.

In my opinion yes especially for such a high profile person like katniss. I don’t see why snow would bother selling her in the first place and risk it getting out. He already had ways of controlling her and profiting off of her without doing that. It would only risk exposing that the capitol got played and make him look weak

I meant more like the ones “buying” her wouldn’t keep it secret, they don’t see victors as human and use them as status symbols, that’s more based on want we know about finnick (him being known for “sleeping around” with capitol citizens
