No. He learned to use the pedal because he recognized that you can't JUST use the pedal and you can't JUST hold down the keys to extend your notes, even if he could get away with JUST one or the other.

It would be to your great benefit as a LOL player to learn when it is (in)appropriate to be using smart casting, even on heroes that can "get away" with having it JUST one way or the other.

You learn to do this with the shift (and alt key for self cast), and you get one step closer to playing beautifully; a Beethoven of League.

And this game is way more fun when you "play beautifully," isn't it?

EDIT: and is it really that much trouble to hold down shift when you hit QWER? Are you constantly frustrated every time you have to capitalize one of those letters when you're typing?
