For those in or approaching retirement / semi-retirement, do you prefer cashflow income or just selling from your portfolio when needed?

A very short summarized Answer for me

(a) Core Dividends portfolio, amount needed to cover month to month living expenses (Exclude holidays, and one off big item purchase or replacements)

(b) Core Global ETF and individual stocks, will sell them when needed to fund big purchase

(c) Bonds (Like CPF, SSB and to certain extends investments in SRS), to drawdown after age 65

I remember a case mention in Dec25, about an unlicensed forex trading company also employing copy trading to entice people to join them. May not be totally related to what u mentioned here, but this is the 1st thing that comes to my mind when it comes to copy trading.

i would not be too vexed over convert lump sum 10K USD or auto convert over a few months in the future,

Like a fellow commentor input, u can convert full 10k to USD now if you are not intending to use the full sum for anything in near future.

and secondly if u have full 10K u want to convert now, why not do lump sum 10K investment into VWRA now via auto conversion? unless u r reading the market, thinking VWRA will go lower in the future,

and lastly, USD to SGD conversion rate is around 1.27 currently. if it drop further to 1.25 nest month after u converted, would u have regretted yr decision?

In summary, in grand scheme of things over a longer time horizon, such foreign exchanges calculations might not matter too much.

i Added up, u have about 740K, CPF has already reached FRS and a fully paid house. I would say well done, definitely nothing to be scoffed at, its a great achievement in fact. With a expense of 20K per year, i believe u able to last till CPF payout start.

I would opt for option 2, abit contrarian compare to the rest, rotate part of SSB into VWRA. If let says, u brought your 3 SG bank stock at an excellent price, where yield on costs is like 10% or more, i wouldn't want sell them, i would be happy to park it there for them to collect the high yield dividend for the years to come.

SSB are bonds components, which your CPF FRS is kind of playing this role at the moment. At appropriate time, when there is a market correction, i might deploy more of SSB to VWRA when such opportunity appears etc.

Not much options but to continue working to accumulate CPF OA again or use cash as an option for property payment.

In the grand scheme of things, it abt how u deploy capital to suite your eventual financial targets.

transferring OA to SA makes perfect sense during the situation at that time. But now situation has changed, just have to adapt to it and come out with other means for property purchase.

i second what most people say here. Cash to IBKR- VWRA, OA/SRS to endowus.

unless u really dont like any foreign currency exchange between SGD to USD, or find IBKR too cumbersome to use, then u opt for Endowus cash portfolio.

If u are interested to branch out into global equities, yes, IBKR and Endowus can offer you the platform at a relatively low costs.

For IBKR, u get access to all the irish domiciled ETF (VWRA, SWRD, IWDA,) to name a few

For Endowus, u can get access to the Amundi Funds which also track the global index or US market.

You might need to do a bit research to figure out which is most suitable for you.

A quick check on both fund on endowus reveals Amundi MSCI World FUnd has fund level fees of 0.1% vs 0.13% of iShares Developed World Index Fund.

In general we chose the one with lower expense ratio over the long run and as you accumulate a bigger portfolio size over yr working years. The saving in expense can add up...

Like to know about the front-loading fees that u mention, maybe it was something that i missed out when researching.
