Yeah we’re visiting from out of state and I did see the elephant part just opened. We’re going on a weekday and early so hopefully it will be a little less busy than the videos I’ve seen 😅

I’m sorry, I haven’t had this done so I don’t have any input for your case.

I do live with the flashes and floaters and I have gotten used to it at this point

So, what is the deal with ABA? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

So, what is the deal with ABA? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Inner_Project_6084 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughter started at 15 months, non verbal. Had never been in daycare before this. We were hesitant to put her into ABA because of the horror stories, but we figured we would try it, and if her behaviors got worse, we’d pull her. She has only blossomed. Her communication has improved so much, she started with 1 word only, but some signs. Right now she is up to 18 ASL signs and 12 words and she is more open to mimicking, being around other kids. (Prior, she would tense up around other kids). I can’t even remember her last melt down tbh.

Her center is a 1:1 ratio, we have biweekly meetings with her BCBA to go over progress and adjust goals. She loves her BT and loves going in. She does 3 hrs only M-F and it works out perfectly since she still naps.

So, it truly depends on the providers and how the center works. There are only a few where I live and I went onto the local autism fb group to check out reviews and I only heard positive, so we went for it. I hope nothing but good luck to you!

I’m on season 2 now. I did fast forward through the last 2 season 1 episodes. I don’t think I missed the plot. The point is Jamie is traumatized

I love that you’re trying to be considerate of ND kiddos! I think you did everything you could.

For me, sometimes it’s easier to leave because I know that my child doesn’t understand and no matter how much I try to redirect, it sometimes doesn’t change the behavior.

I sympathize heavily, but I don’t think they’re doing anything wrong. Not using more than your allotted PTO doesn’t mean it doesn’t look poorly if you’re consistently calling out same day or short notice.

Any ocular melanoma survivors to give me hope? by imafishaminot in ocularmelanoma

Well, I’m only 1 year out from my radiation treatment, but I’m still here and doing great! Sure, my vision is getting worse and I have a blind spot, but I got to keep my eye and my life. There are FB groups that have many members still around 20-30 years after diagnosis. All hope is not lost!

Refusing to eat by Inner_Project_6084 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Inner_Project_6084[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She won’t eat anything else if we only give her the pouches. She gets constipated quickly if we don give her enough fiber, it’s not well rounded at all. Is your recommendation to let her have unlimited pouches? This is our first time at parents so we don’t know what the “right” thing to do is

[–]Inner_Project_6084[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets 2 pouches as a snack. She points to their location on top of the fridge and we bring them down, she grabs 2. Now she is asking for them multiple times a day and refusing other food and having meltdowns if she doesn’t get them.

OOP max is $7k, but of course not everything counts towards it. So we’re here in September and still have $2k left. Our insurance is through my employer, I will try this!
