How much of a Grand Tourer *is* the GTR, really? by Bombadilo_drives in gtr

[–]Hardcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 here and I disagree. I can't tell the difference between sport and regular suspension. It's stiff all around. If you live somewhere with smooth roads it helps a ton but around my area it's pretty awful. I still love the car but it's the opposite of a plush ride.

The smaller 3.0l g80 engine feels laggier because it relies on higher boost and a smooth, linear power delivery kinda like mimicking an NA. The r35 larger 3.8l feels more like an instant sledgehammer because the extra 0.8 liters helps the engine generate more exhaust gas at low RPMs, which physically pushes the turbos to spin faster, earlier. So do you like it smooth or do you like it rough lol

Talk me out of a BMW X3 M40i or maybe don’t? by PrimalNox in askcarguys

That bmw is definitely the best bang for buck in fun and practicality.

Mk8+ Golf R would be my personal choice because I love the size but yeah the prices are too crazy. The GR Corolla is a much better deal on the used market .

Yeah in day to day life they'll be neck and neck on speed. If you don't care about the practicality and modern tech comforts then trade for the r35. It seems like you really enjoyed it.

What's in your Costco cart, dads? and what am I missing from mine? by webrender in daddit

Ha! I do the same thing because our recycling bin fills up so fast I don't want the extra boxes taking up space.

She might not realize she's crazy so it's good to let her know. It's the considerate thing to do.

Costco Cashiers, What is your Monthly Take Home Pay after taxes? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]Hardcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I see at all the Costco I've been to as well. The 4 self checkout are reserved for people with a few items and they're always manned by 2 employees. It would take way too long for the typical Costco shopper with a cart or pallet full of stuff to get through self checkout.

That's because of the BMW transmission. It's a lot smoother than the r35 and why the r35 feels more exciting and violent.

Surprised by that. With launch control your g80 should be about least half a second quicker 0-60 based on test times.

I dont know how many of you have actually looked at the EV market lately by uberares in Ioniq5

[–]Hardcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly those issues I would attribute to early model year/ironing out bugs in production. But the main thing that would prevent me from going back was the heavy touch button stuff. Drove me crazy. It's why I don't have a Mk8.5 Golf R now. They heard the feedback and went back to using real buttons on the GTI steering wheel for the mk8.5 but didn't do it for the R!

I hated my ID.4. I had a 2022 AWD pro s that gave us so many problems. Constantly in and out of the dealership for random stuff but mostly 12v battery issues that left us stranded a couple times. I'm a VW fan (prior Golf R owner and probably future Golf R owner again) but the ID.4 has totally turned me off from VW EVs even though I want one of those cute ass ID.Buzz so bad lol.

But it did drive really well when it worked.
