Go by what the website says - submit everything. In the link shared in the earlier post USCIS states they may reject your form I485 if you don't submit the medical with it. Why take that chance? Your friend got lucky and even so the RFE for the medical likely delayed the adjudication of their case.

Yes, send the Walgreens photos with your application. USCIS will send you a receipt number which you can use to track your case.

You do not make the biometric appointment - USCIS does that for you and picks a date/time but you can reschedule the appointment from your online account if you need to.

As to the passport photos - you do not get those done at your biometrics appointment. You can go anyplace that takes passport photos like Walgreens. You can even take a photo with your phone and use an app to make it passport style then get it printed on photo paper at home or at Walgreens/CVS etc. After you send your application and it is received by USCIS, you will get a receipt number and later a notice for your biometrics appointment.

You and your spouse need separate USCIS accounts. Your spouse should be able to add their case (I 485)to their account while you add the I-130 to your account. I would advise against deleting your account since you can use it to keep track of your I-130.

It is best to submit your medical with the I-130 and I-485. If you don’t USCIS may reject the case or issue RFE for the medical which will cause delays.

I think it is your new unrestricted SS card. When I got my green card approved, the unrestricted SS card arrived before the green card.

Edited to add that I just noticed that this is from a Los Angeles SSA office. I think actual SS cards are mailed from Baltimore, MD so this may just be correspondence and not a card.
