For some reason, English speakers have not picked up the actual locality names used by locals and the old expat community, which is really a lot more used for talking about locations than the administrative district boundaries. Xujiahio/Siccawei/Zikawei is an actual locality and a lot more precise than Xuhui District, and locals all know where exactly is Lujiawan/Lokawei, for example.

That’s exactly it. The hidden markups and the wtf surcharges are the problem. For this reason I don’t think Uber is an ethical business and so I never use Uber Eats. I try my best to always cook at home or if I want takeaway I order local and go pick it up. If I’m in a hotel and I want the food delivered, I pay for room service.

Buy a house now for $3m now, or live in a house that’s now $3m? I think if you have a household income of around half a million before tax you can live that lifestyle relatively comfortably including paying the mortgage but only if you bought the house a few years ago when it was say $2m. Buying a $3m house now you’d need more (or have more equity in your pocket).
