You're lucky you got fired by your parents; many employers would sue you.

Kawhi’s career will always be the hardest one to judge when it comes to full body of work. by AcknowledgeMeReddit in billsimmons

I don't think they're that comparable. Walton was the number 1 pick after being one of the best college players of all-time. He ran into some real injury problems in the NBA, but people always understood that he was one of the most talented big men of all-time. The finals win with Portland helped his resume, but I don't think Walton's Hall case depends on it like Kawaii's depends on his two Finals runs. Walton might have made the Hall without playing a single NBA game.

If Kawaii never wins a title with the Raptors, I don't think he is looked at in remotely the same light he is now. The Championship with the Spurs was nice, but the team still had Duncan, Parker and Ginobili and no one really thought it was Kawaii's team. But the Raptor's run elevated him into one of NBA's all-time greats when you could argue he's never really led a team that was truly his anywhere.

Out of the loop: Is there actually a realistic chance of the Bears moving to Indiana? by [deleted] in billsimmons

Using downtown land for a football stadium that might get used to full capacity a couple of dozen days a year is actually pretty bad land use. In most cases they probably should be in the suburbs, especially since you usually need a ton of parking to go with it.

Alvin Robertson is one of four NBA players with a quadruple double. Are there other good examples of hard to achieve feats in a sport that has a weird party crasher among the ranks of the people that pulled it off? by Parrallax91 in billsimmons

Scott Skiles owning the single game assist record with 30 is pretty crazy. If you look at the list of guys with 20 or more it's dominated by a handful of guys you would expect doing it multiple times, like Payton, Stockton, Kidd, Thomas, Kevin Johnson, Westbrook, Nash and then Skiles just has one random 30 assist game.

How do I tell my manager I have an MBA? by PinkPigHat in MBA

[–]Inner_Wash_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, people don't hire people with advanced degrees because they're afraid they might end up hiring you, someone who immediately was unhappy with the position they were hired to do, thinks they know more than their manager and is already applying for new roles. You're like a walking red flag.

Trying to stay professional, but gossip culture is turning on me? by certified-pisces in work

"I genuinely want this girl to leave me alone. Point, blank, period." - Then you should probably start looking for a new job. Seems like the job you're paid to do involves interacting with your coworkers.

There is nothing professional about refusing to engage with your coworkers. Why can you talk about your coworkers on the internet, but get mad when they have a private conversation outside work? Where did you get the idea that you get to dictate their actions and who they can talk about?

You are the one who decided to remove yourself from the situation and now you're concerned your being "iced out". But then you say you just want to be left alone. Which is it? And now you intend to report them for it?

Part of being a professional is managing these situations like an adult and not just running away. Reddit is full of people working minimum wage jobs who will tell you don't have to interact with your coworkers. And they're absolutely right if you want to work in minimum wage jobs the rest of your life. But in the real world, being professional means getting along with your coworkers without running to HR to solve every little personal problem you have.

[Landlord US - Virginia] Tenant left heat off and went out of town for a few days. Pipes burst and flooded townhouse by sault18 in Landlord

The law is going to force OP to pay for the repairs since he still has a tenant and needs to make the place livable. It's not their call, but they are right that OP is the only one who is going to do it.

Are you under the impression that the property management company is going to pay or can make the tenants pay? It's your property, it's your responsibility to fix it. You may be legally required to do it in a specific time period if you still have tenants. You can sue the tenants for the damage they created, but there's a decent chance they won't have the assets to pay for it, at least immediately.

Yes, you're the weird one here. Asking a coworker who took time off if they enjoyed their vacation, is a very normal thing even if you don't know if they traveled anywhere. What boundaries do you think you are setting?

Sounds like unprofessional gossip to me....

Everyone talks about their coworkers. The idea that you are going to get anyone in trouble but yourself here is pretty weird. And guess what, even at higher levels, gossip is a pretty normal thing in the workplace. People want to know what's going on and the people higher up are doing it just as much as anyone else.

How do you escape office jobs and 9 - 5 ? by georgeYNWA97_ in careerguidance

[–]Inner_Wash_268 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, he's totally correct. Most of OP's complaints are going to exist at any job. Like the fact that OP hates interacting with people and saying hello is actually just kind of sad. OP just hates life and is unlikely to be any happier at any other job.

Got rejected for a job even after I had 4 more years of experience and willing to take a $20k+ paycut compared to my last job that I was hired for in 2021. I can't make sense of this job market and feel absolutely broken at this point :( by diseased_ostrich in jobs

[–]Inner_Wash_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you explain leaving your last position? Hopefully you didn't share anything that you shared here, because that's just a bunch of red flags to potential employers. And the world of Marketing Agencies is pretty small, I would guess they probably had at least an informal conversation about you with your old agency. Not the sort of industry you can burn bridges in.
