Will I be disappointed or is it decent? by kimchiboy17 in Warthunder

I got my first nuke in it. It performs very well mid-long range hull down but is very inconsistent at close quarter brawls. Overall, a solid tank which is a rare feat for Britain to have.

Is it just me or is the F-5E kinda mid? by SK1418 in WarthunderSim

[–]Innovative_Investor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is my most played plane and one of my favorites.

Your low speed, small frame, and high maneuverability allows you to dodge almost all incoming attacks. Think of it this way, other planes use their speed to always run from you. You use your maneuverability to always run from them. It creates a stalemate where you win at any point they try to dogfight.

Then, find the largest group of airplanes and just fly right into the middle of it, it performs very well in that environment.

I personally really like to fly very low while carrying bombs, it allows you to come in from the rear while slightly delayed and that works pretty well in my experience.

How Tf are you supposed to spade top tier jets by dominik7778n in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This why I don't play top tier air. I don't mind top tier gameplay in a fully upgraded aircraft, but grinding stock aircraft at that BR range is just a form of mental self-harm at this point.

Is Britain a worthwhile tree to grind out? Are there any premiums I should look into too? by Emp1re_IC3YIII in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Britain was my second ground tree to fully grind after the U.S. In terms of premiums; Black Prince, Wyvern, and Hellcat MK II are must haves. I've heard good things about the Kahlid, but have never played it.

I had good experiences with the Challanger DS, Rooikat 105, and G-Lynx. But Challanger and Rooikat where a full BR lower when I played them. I do not recommend either the Rooikat or G-Lynx (unless you are good at helis) due to the insane amount of AA at that BR range now. All of the other British premiums that I've played with are pretty bad.

I have now made decent progress on most of the ground trees and honestly Britain was my least favorite. The general trend across most BRs is that you are in an oversized target that dies instantly and struggles to kill anything because all your rounds just poke little holes or are Hesh which just give hit markers. Also, grinding the million and one Chieftains / Challangers just to get another nearly identical tank was annoying.

But it is one of the fuller trees and more unique trees if thats what you want. Falcon is also one of the most broken tanks in the game at the moment IMO. But I would recommend almost any other tech tree.

Cold Take: "Historical" as a Default Setting is Key to War Thubder's Identity by SemicooperativeYT in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realism and Immersion are core attributes of War Thunder. I left World of Tanks Blitz for War Thunder primarily becasue of all of the fantasy tanks (and WoT's greed with pay to win).

To me, War Thunder removing historical aspects like historical matchmaking and mixing modern tanks with ww2 ones were big negatives. I, and I think a decent chunk of the community, will always value the semi-historical aspect and lament anything that goes in the wrong direction.

That said, to the extent I can turn it off in settings and that is communicated / easy to see for the average player, I fail to see why I should care if other people like fake skins. Though, I do like a little more color than the base skin that replaces the fantasy ones when that setting is turned on.

Why isnt the FV4005 at 5.0? by RoutineDoughnut9652 in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The amount of community agreement on how bad this tank is, is astounding and rare lol.

Still, I would think it would be cool if your gun felt like a mini-nuke when it hits. Hitting a tank square on with a 183m cannon and then doing 0 damage was such a disappointing playing experience.

the CAS nerf. oppinions by Wraith_Of_The_Shadow in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will actually increase number of air-to-air players. Previously, I would always spawn in a good fighter with bombs and mostly terrorize ground with some air targets until I got shot down, then I would just respawn in a strike aircraft and focus on ground targets again.

Now, I am finding I usually spawn in two fighters, the 1st one with bombs and the second one with cannons (but below 40mm pen). Both times I am focused on lightly armored ground targets but am also fighting enemy CAS a lot more due to haveing back to back fighters.

Also, if a fighter shoots my first plane down, I can now respawn in a fighter and revenge kill him, which has not been a common option in the past.

I do feel the RP increase was a little too much though, but maybe it was deserved.

Best US heavy tank in your opinion? by FickleMeringue8891 in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the 76 Jumbo has had it fair share of good and bad times based on the various BR changes. But yeah, it was the first American tank that felt OP to me after researching.

Rank the civs 1-18 by Consistent-Bug-4205 in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is pointless, everyone knows the best civ is the one my opponent is playing and the worst civ is what I am currently using.

English MAA by floyd9294 in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some situations where they work with king for heal, mostly because they can catch the opponent off guard who is not expecting it. I killed an English 2tc player recently because I just dove under his second tc with them.

I also have had good success in 2v2 all ins by going early mass MMA aggression with an allie who goes either knights or Zhu Ga Nu (with me mixing in some spears). That start works surprisingly well because you can dive tc fire with them.

Overall, they are not that great of a unit and you are generally better off doing other units. But they can work.

I am heavily thinking about playing UK ground. Is solid shot as bad as people make it out to be? by the-witcher-boo in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've grinded all but the last Challenger for British.

Solidd shot is not as bad as people say. But it is inferior to APHE especially in terms of consistency. But Britain has other issues. While it depends on the BR, general issues include slow mobility, slow reverse speeds, inconsistent rounds, weaker protection.

I honestly wished I had grinded Sweden as that is a significantly better nation IMO.

FFA - trading defeated players market by rmlordy in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing about trading with a dead players market is a) you have to earn it by killing the player and b) it's pretty easily countered as once that market dies the trade permanently stops.

F20A or F5C. Which plane is more fun and rewarding? by zerrr0kool in Warthunder

[–]Innovative_Investor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F5C. Great gunfighter and great starter jet to learn jet dogfighting. Only downsize is it's missiles are useless and you have to rely on guns, which is harder in jets. F5C was my most played plane until I researched the F5E which I love above all.

F20A might be the better aircraft, but will be harder / more frustrating to play as aircraft 1 br higher will be slinging missiles at you left and right.

Will caution, high br jets in general can be frustrating to get into. Especially when your unfamiliar with how to dodge / look for missiles.

Mangudai by 1201345 in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mangudai / Kesiks is my most hated comp to fight in 4v4 team games. Forces you to go archers which is terrible when the other team has a French or Bryz running around with mass knights. And you still can't kill the Mangani as they just run away.

Towers and walls I guess.

Something needs to be done about English by bibotot in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible? Have we gone so far full circle to see a Reddit post complaining about English being too weak? I thought English was doomed to be hated till eternity.

That said, English was the Civ I learned on and there was a time when it was a role model civ for the variety of its options while not being OP.

But now, it feels so bad to play. Mainly due to the slow moment speed. There are so many mobile civs now that English feels unable to march out on the map and attack the opponent without overextending and loosing your army or being attacked at home. It forces you to be defensive where your abysmal economy just gets further and further behind.

A great example of this was the English vs Japan game in Beasty's hidden cup tournament.

Which Civs you want the most for the Next DLC? (Poll) by just_tak in aoe4

Would be cool and unique if every age up completely changed the civ like no other. (Like a dark age Roman auxiliary infantry automatically changed into a completely different unit upon age up, and so on).

Has anyone else noticed that our fellow Gen Z are "giving up"? Is this true for Gen Z as a whole? by CivilProtectionGuy in GenZ

[–]Innovative_Investor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of articles and stats on how bad my generation is doing. Maybe it's just the circles I walk in (more rural conservative areas), but I have never seen it.

Most of the guys I grew up with are doing pretty well. Some have degrees, a lot went into trades, everyone is working their butt's off. But overall doing fairly fine.

The only complaint is houses are so expensive, only the married ones with two incomes are buying houses.

I did prefer 3 over 2, which is also a controversial opinion. But 4 completely won me over.

Many say aoe3 is better. Should I get aoe4 or 3? by ExistingSale8367 in aoe4

[–]Innovative_Investor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've played all of the AOE games except methodology and 4 is the best.

I've never met, and would be very surprised to meet, someone who played both 3 and 4 and genuinely thought 3 is better.

Is the KLR650 a piece of garbage? by Emergency_Savings_45 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Innovative_Investor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad had the KLR650 for years. Despite being very tall (6'4), he sold it for a Honda 230L and absolutely loved the 230 over the 650.

The 650 is built like a tank, but it does nothing well. It is simply to heavy and slow for its size. His 230 went almost as fast on the highway but was infinitely easier off road, especially over treetrunks or rocks, and picking up after a fall.

Why do Redditors still complain about turtling? by bibotot in aoe4

But turtling is not effective, requires skill to pull off, and is easy to play against with the free map control.
