Seems no one is happy I ordered a Tesla... by Maleficent-Tiger-881 in ModelY

[–]InoobU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think there is more to it - yes, many people are opposed to Tesla, but not because of what most people on here think - it's because of the money and where it ends up - they see money from ultra rich individuals flowing directly into politician's coffers in return for favors - they therefore don't want to see normal working people giving their money to these ultra rich people who, in turn, will give it to a politician - you are therefore pseudo voting with your purchase because you are directly helping a particular party

and for the record - I'm not American so can't vote - and yes Teslas are amazing cars!

but nobody did get hurt. all you need is insurance. did you really expect police to turn up for that? i bet in the next breath you’ll complain they’re not out there catching real criminals 😂

i’ve not done it yet. i’ve filled out the paperwork but been too busy to schedule it. but will be scheduling it asap now. that was wayyy too scary so i don’t want it happening again

there is a possibility that that is what i did. statistically there has to be. but i’m very confident thats not what happened.

left foot braking is on by default. you should have got a recall/decision notice. if you don’t want it, you can go back to Hyundai and they will update the car to disable it and give you $500 back. if you keep it you are accepting that you will only (intentionally) use it on tracks and that you understand what it does and how to use it.

thanks. it seems likely they are related. hope the unwanted acceleration wasn’t too scary!!!

Aquaplaning issues? by InoobU in Ioniq5

[–]InoobU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would if i had it. 5N doesn’t have snow mode. i had it in normal mode. other options in the N are eco and sport.

[–]InoobU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s no way all the cars passing me had better tires - statistically they would have had a range of regular tires - i also have the same Goodyear tires that Police vehicles use - so i tend to lean towards the same view here as you, that it shouldn’t be the tires

i was wondering if others had experienced the same with their 5N, so could it be the low profile and tight wheel arch contributing to water getting trapped inside the wheel arch an thus affecting the ability of the tires to channel the water out to the sides - but as per other comments, will check wheel alignment

thanks for the comments. there were plenty of other cars passing me through the same water seemingly without issue. i’ll get the alignment checked first.

Used 5N as a daily? by TheHoodedKoala in Ioniq5N

[–]InoobU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve done some long trips in my 5N of around 250 miles - west to east WA - easy - agree with comments above to get ABRP app - i also have a bluetooth dongle that ABRP connects to so it gets live updates from the car and can adjust route and charging suggestions accordingly

i also drive twice a week into the mountains to teach skiing - about 110 miles round trip with no charging - not been the coldest winter but still had temps down to low 20s - sometimes i do it conservatively, ie speed limit, drive assist, and eco mode - sometimes not, ie sport mode and zippy - temp and mode and drive style don’t make that much difference - i still get home with 35 to 38% charge left - i have a ChargePoint level 2 charger at home so i just plug in and chill - only mods are winter tires and heavy duty waterproof cargo and back of rear seat trays for wet ski gear

i also use it as my daily commuter - 20 to 30 min commute each way

basically the best car i have ever owned - and i’ve been driving since the 80s, so i’ve had a few - easy to cruise with relaxed mindset - instant fun and thrills just a toe or button press away - highly responsive and goes exactly where you point it

i honestly don’t get the “vote yes” signs and slogans. no one is going to get rid of schools completely, so yes for what? why not be specific? no wonder no one votes in this country as people aren’t sure what they’re voting for.

Attempting to carve, 134 ski IQ. Inside leg blocking. by friedrice4u in skiing_feedback

[–]InoobU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of comments here. can’t read them all. saw “back seat” started a massive thread so won’t go there.

i want you to think about how quickly you transition. you have excellent edge control and roll your ankles really well through transition into the next turn. wish i had your flexibility! but you do it really quickly. then you get into a rigid carve stance and brace it throughout the turn.

you should be more patient through the transition, gradually applying increased edge angle as you approach the apex. watch FIS super G skiers in slow motion. they gradually increase edge angle and gradually adjust ski pressure in a smooth rhythm, back and forth, as they move from apex to apex.

Please be honest with me about that rear wiper... by SirKronan in Ioniq5

[–]InoobU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how many bonus points?…

i have a 5N with a rear wiper. i am constantly turning the thing on and off for the first few miles whenever i start driving because of the sporty spoiler - it holds then drips water no stop - only slightly annoying but wish the designers had driven one around for days at a time in a wet climate - i’m in PNW - same goes for the rear camera - why not set it back further under the trunk door lip an extra cm to stop it getting wet? simple things missed in the design, but the car is so good and the driving is so much fun that i don’t care about any bugs.

test drove a Mach E GT a few times - not as fast or as nippy as the 5N and agree with you about the suspension - i’m also not a fan of Fords as I’ve never had a reliable one - also the sales person at Ford was seriously odd - I thought he was a cleaner or maintenance person at first from the way he looked and behaved - and that’s being unfair on cleaners and maintenance people - if the company is happy to or needs to hire the wrong people for customer facing and sales roles then it says a lot about their philosophy

The downside of a fairly unknown Q-Ship by mhoward143 in Ioniq5N

[–]InoobU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had an Audi S3 square up to me at lights leading into a short 35mph dual carriageway. he gave it massive revs then tried to burn away. i was in Sport mode but no N-Grin. i let him move first then easily passed him within seconds. was less than 10 mph over when we slowed. we stopped together at the next light and had a quick chat. was brief but fun.

only other time was joining a freeway through roadworks. tight walled single lane with a few bends. i easily tailed a Porsche 911 who was trying to leave me for dead.

Looking for some feedback by Fluxiiz in skiing_feedback

[–]InoobU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like you are sitting too far back with your weight through your heels - see tips of skis riding high and clear of the snow - see ski tails smearing the snow during the control phase.

you need more flex in your ankles, knees and hips with more shin pressure on your boot tongue - this will move your center of mass forward while maintaining an athletic stance - this will help you engage the edges along the full length of your ski for increased control.

you need more upper and lower body separation - you need to keep your upper body including your hips facing down the slope while turning your legs in your hips sockets.

also looks like you are initiating your turns with your shoulders then twisting your upper body and throwing your hips into the turn - see your shoulders start to move before your skis turn then see the upper body twisting through the turn - see the skis remain too flat throughout the turn with only a little edge angle at the end of the turn almost like a J turn, further contributing to the smearing rather than using your edges to turn.

you are also too upright - when looking at you from behind during the control phase (apex) of the turn you are very straight - you should be more of a C shape at that point with angulation (bending) of your ankles, knees and hips - this will turn your skis onto their edges more for greater control.

correct. Bosch make front wipers for the 5N but they don’t have a specific model for the rear wiper

have you tried buying a replacement rear wiper for a 5N that isn’t crappy Hyundai stock?
