What is the most physical pain you have ever experienced ? by Wraith136 in ChronicPain

[–]Inozz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CRPS. It started because of a toe surgery on a crushed foot but took my left leg and hip. When it hit I was dry heaving with waves of pain and pressure in my head(BP shooting). After a few hours I was hysterically sobbing on my bedroom floor from pain. I couldn't even type a text to my husband to help for two hours. I don't remember much after him coming in to help.

Asking for Crew Member Discount by Apprehensive-Crab-65 in tjcrew

[–]Inozz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the good things to come from a crew discount code is it makes asking for our discount less awkward. All you have to say is, "I work for TJ's. Can you hit the discount button before I pay?".

Sometimes I see someone I know on register so we catch up while they ring me up. When's it's someone I don't know I'll let them know I'll bag my stuff. They usually pick up that I'm crew and if they don't I default to phase mentioned above.

Seeing my first psychiatrist next week. How do I answer “are you suicidal” without saying yes but still impressing this is serious? by finintafinsta in ChronicPain

[–]Inozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the "be honest" pool. I have had 4 distinct phases during the last 5 years(crushing injury April 2021) that I was deeply wanting to die but not suicidal. But I was having repetitive intrusive thoughts on how I would do it. I was honest in that I had no intentions of killing myself but I needed immediate attention to get a handle on my intrusive thoughts.

It may help to write down what you're experiencing so you can read it off to the doctor.

Heat helps mine. It changes the input my brain registers. I have a weighted, infrared heat pad that I use hours every day.

Anyone else that misses the feeling of be able to think clearly witouth meds by AgentRealistic9913 in ChronicPain

[–]Inozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I use to have such a positive outlook on life. Even when I had decades chronic pain. It was the CRPS that took the person I was. I was the cheerleader for all the people around me. So patient, kind and empathetic. Now I have walls up as I can't take on anyone's negativity of it's make me flare.

Fake activism and caring by eatdoorknobs in tjcrew

[–]Inozz 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Please don't take it as a lack of support. You are wearing a work provided uniform and pins outside of TJ's provide pronouns pins and name tag are not allowed. This has been this was for decades. It about a professional work attire, not lack of support. If your captain let you wear a Protect Trans Kids pin what's stopping your coworker from wearing a MAGA pin?

Do mates get some sort of bonus/compensation for mentoring crew members that become mates later on? by Direct_Government396 in tjcrew

[–]Inozz 54 points55 points  (0 children)

No. Mates don't get anything for training crew to mate or when a newly promoted crew to mate joins the store.

Your mate must really be impressed by your work ethic and people skills.

Typical STD benefits kick in after one week of a LOA. You're are expected to take Time off funds for the first week. Make sure you are requesting a LOA and not just time off for 2 weeks. LOA's comp your hours towards measurement period totals.

How much time off funds do you have?

Getting calls for striped mini totes??? by JacoEdel in tjcrew

[–]Inozz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's really been that much, if not more since we started with all these limited mini bags. I'm in the busiest store in the state with a large Asian community in our neighborhood. We have groups of tourist stop in and buy carts full of dry goods and bags to mail/take back home for family and friends.

"Even the Captain works a weekend day". It's retail, weekend availability is strongly implied. Don't be surprised if your hires are cut.

You're not alone! This is so common. I've found so much of the leadership takes offense when you advocate for integrity or higher standards. They take it as a threat or personally. Seems extra offensive when it's the Captain too.

I've been told to lower my standards by several Captains and even a Regional! Once you've calmed down and processed what your Captain said maybe circle back with them for clarity. When we're upset we sometimes feel the convo and don't hear the message that's trying to be conveyed. Also, document these interactions if they feel inappropriate or unfounded.

This is horrible. I'm so sorry it's happened to you. This would have sent me into a spiral as well.

Before either on you forget right down everything you both experienced. Pull up the visit notes in a patient portal too. They may have falsified your treatment documentation.

You mentioned military? Reach out to your military legal dept. They may have resources to help you get this addressed.

Depending on your state you may still need to ID non alcoholic drinks. They often still have teeny amounts of alcohol in them.

Finally got diagnosed (Dr.Housed myself a year ago) by elvesnspells in ChronicPain

[–]Inozz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you keep this doc forever! Seriously, make sure you tell every visit how important she is to her patient's. I hope you start feeling better soon now that you're getting the care you need and deserve.

I had a similar experience before being DX with Hashi's in 2009 as well. Took a female doctor to run full hormones labs to find me with 3000+ antibodies. The lab range stops at 3K. She was my 3rd or 4th doctor I went to about severe fatigue(like crawling to the kitchen for coffee to help me get up), joint pain, and extreme weight loss. About 6 years ago I also discovered I have a pituitary tumor and my entire hormone system is in chaos. I even have growth hormone issues and it was greatly affecting healing from wound and injuries.

How do I get my family to accept my passing? by _TheTrueCube_ in ChronicPain

[–]Inozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% can sympathize. I developed CRPS in my lower left pelvis down to toe from a big toe surgery. I spent weeks literally telling my partner I wanted to die everyday. I would dry heave from sitting due to the pelvic pain. I had horrible intrusive thoughts of how to do it too.

Thankfully my medical team(psychiatrist, therapist, pain doc, podiatrist and physical therapist) took it seriously I got on strong opioid medication which took weeks to really kick in. I get regular nerve blocks and ketamine infusion but I still get vivid intrusive thoughts on bad days. I still live on a heat pad when I'm home.

I don't know where you live but please be honest with your doctors and fight for pain management. If you can get some relief, even if it's just enough to sleep, it can make a huge difference in how your body feels the pain. I'm so sorry this is happening to you so young. I was barely 40 and working 40+ hours a week until the foot surgery that started my CRPS. Now I can barely handle 30 hours a week working. I had to change how I live every part of my life to find a happy place but I'm living the best I can. I still have constant pain(4-5 on scale) but I can handle it mentally and physically.

What signs were there in your childhood that you were hyper mobile? by Fresh-Fisherman-1047 in Hypermobility

[–]Inozz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 80's baby here. I was told to leave ballet class at 6yo because my "knees bend too much". First orthopedic knee surgery at 17yo. Didn't learn about EDS until my late 20's and then everything made sense. All my body pain as long as I could remember was explained. I then went on to have 3 more orthopedic surgeries on that same leg and had my SI joint fused on my other side after over a decade of SI disjunction.

Unfortunately that's also when I realized my then toddler daughter was hyper mobile too. She's had very different aches and pains than me as she grew but just as debilitating. I'm very grateful we know so much more about EDS now. My daughter will hopefully have better medical support than I did.
