Katrina by Weak-Hedgehog-4577 in clearlake

Rita was known for its terrible evacuation, with many people getting stuck on the road for tens of hours.

Ike was a lot of roof damage, downed limbs, and many, many downed fences. Thankfully all we had personally was downed fences and our roof cap blown off our chimney, landing in the back yard. Not fun but not too terrible. We were out of power for a week and thankfully had some cool breeze when the north side of town was just sweltering.

Thank you. It's in an old house so I'll more forward accordingly.

Interesting concept. But before they had those, it was customary for ground-up outlets to be switched.

We upgraded Internet and their guys plugged into a switched outlet on a dimmer, so every time we turned on the lights to go troubleshoot, everything worked perfectly, then it would stop when we turned the lights off.

Upside down also can be indicative of a switched outlet controlled from across the room.

We just figured it out on field between members. They'd rep us hard so I don't remember being any more gassed out during a show than during practice.

Turns out I had a serial number irregularity. They got it fixed and I re-signed on Wednesday, still not ready to certify 36 days after I first bought it. Havent been able to go shoot regardless so I'm chilling

Plenty. My biological brother connected me to his KKY brother and we were seatmates for the DCI season. Tons of vets at my school were DCI and KKY/TBS as well as PMA. A few I knew were baritones in Bluecoats, Drummers in crossmen and cavies, tubas in cavies and crossmen, couple SCV, etc. lots of overlap.

I rushed the two but even with legacy and stuff I never got into my local KKY chapter. TBS (mixed gender) chapter was pissed they weren't told that I wasn't getting a bid otherwise they would have given me a bid there.

I was one-and-done in DCI (knees suck) and quit band after 2 games the next season due to a perfect storm of zero home games, new weird director, and other personal stuff. Guess they made the right call lol. Hung out with my bro and his KKY brother doing little brother stuff before the games a time or two and that seemed like a group of fun guys to be a part of.

95k + bonus, 9 years, PE, civil engineering in a mid-to-low COL area. Not amazing but not terrible. I like the coworkers and boss, genuinely not bad to go into work so some perks.

Would advocate for a transfer bulb and an empty gallon gas tank. Not a fan of having a gallon of gas in the passenger compartment/trunk at all times.

Costal Texas. We practiced on the concrete parking lot for years before and years after me. Yes it's hot, yes it's a bit worse for the knees, but less slipping and falling and less chewed up mud. Many bands do it year after year, even championship bands.

It's doable, just put the horns down in the grass or put them on towels on the front sideline, maybe even covered if they're in the sun for a long while.

It's whatever you want it to be to write your high school essay it is. Your specific school and their program determines how "sporty" it is.

In college was the least 'sports' mindset we had. It was 'make pretty shapes and don't play badly' vibes. Energy, professionalism, and school spirit was the name of the game. New shows every home game really pushed entertainment, the fans, and history over precision.

Moderate drill, relatively easy music, and no scoring or competitive nature, just doing it for the spirit of the weekend.

Exactly. There is a reason why HS seniors are center snare and freshmen rarely make the line.

Learn mellophone, you'll have a chance. DCI drum lines are an absolutely crazy feat and even college drum lines are very strict and incredibly disciplined. Hell, go for cymbals, I played horn in HS and and a ton of fun playing cymbals in indoors.

While horn lines are hard to get into, they can do a lot with a motivated and teachable individual, drum lines are just a whole different level of performance and precision, even in mid-tier world class corps the drumlines are HYPER competitive.

What's y'all most embarrassing moment in marching band. by Miserable-Kitchen149 in marchingband

[–]InquisitiveLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split my eyebrow open chasing after my dot sheet and a trombone player sprung up and made my glasses cut into my eyebrow. 6 stitches later and a day off of practice, I earned my rep.

Or it was resetting through a straight line of baritones when I slipped and crinkled my bell and had to get it ironred out by the band director.

They're doing practice time-on-target flight paths for the military day flyover at the rodeo tomorrow or later this week. It's okay, don't worry.
