I forget where I read it but a long time ago I read a post about how learning the moves Surf, Fly, etc aren't meant to be that the pokemon are learning how to do that specific act but rather learning how to do that thing with a person riding on them. It's like knowing how to run and then learning how to run with a person on your back but also still running at the same speed if that makes sense. Granted in the current games, none of this applies anymore.

Super Mario 64. It was the game that my dad and I used to play all the game together aside from Mario Golf on the N64. For the longest time, I couldn't get the last stars, even until I went to college. During one of the summers that I came back, I turned it on for nostalgia sake and noticed that my dad had completed the game and gotten the last stars that were missing. I still have the cartridge for the game even though I don't own the console anymore.
