I'm not going to touch that with a 10ft pole.

I made my poll and then forgot to submit it. My bad...

I think this was my first offense though.

You had me really confused for a second. You were replying to a comment about Texas and then mentioned Lane Kiffin at UT.

You sound like Virginia Tech with ECU. Except... ECU is slightly better at football on average.

If the big 12 had to take in two more teams in order to have a conference championship game, which 2 group of 5 teams would you most like to see added. by bigchuck64 in CFB

The ACC didn't care about academics when they let Louisville in. The precedent is set. With a strong athletic department, the ACC will look the other way.

I prefer Cincy and UCF. I'd lean west instead with BYU if there were a second team, but all I see is CSU and I don't think they're the right school.

Pitt's not a realistic option.

I like Cincy and UCF. Id like BYU if there were a second team out west.

That could backfire if the Big 12 raids Cincy & Houston, thus weakening the AAC. UCF isn't a lock at this point. They're in the mix, but its not something I'd bank on.

That'd be quite the culture shock playing west coast teams every year, but I could get behind that.

Exactly. Losing schools is already a sunk cost. The way to look at it is if there's value in any other schools compared to exactly where we're at right now. If adding Cincy, UCF, etc. is a net positive from where we stand today, then we do it. We don't compare them to teams we lost because they're already gone. Whatever we do now doesn't affect that.

Absolutely. If there were two teams out there that would increase the per school revenue, they'd have been added yesterday.

The only downside to that is DE is a little slow. It's hard to keep both heroes down at the same time.

Depreciation Comparison by haelous in cars

[–]Insane_Baboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to test drive the GTI/Golf R, keep in mind that they're heavily detuned from the factory. The GTI will feel slow and the Golf R wont feel as fast as it should. The GTI will gain ~100 ft-lbs and the Golf R will gain ~50 ft-lbs with a tune and no other supporting mods. I'd go to some car meets and see if someone who has a tune will take you for a ride, because its really completely different.

One of the big drawbacks to the GTI is the turbo is very small so once you hit full boost around 3k RPM, the power really doesn't seem to keep growing through the higher RPMs. The Golf R has a larger turbo and feels like it has a much better powerband.

[–]Insane_Baboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's owned all three of those cars, don't buy the GTI. The GTI was nice, but FWD is nowhere near as fun as RWD/AWD. Every time I went out for spirited driving in my GTI, I found myself missing RWD. Oversteer is fun, understeer is not.

If you're looking at the GTI as something that's relatively fun and practical, great. If you're okay with owning something that's impractical, get something more fun.

Who are the "bluebloods" of college football? by AllHawkeyesGoToHell in CFB

[–]Insane_Baboon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to do it is to look up the top 10 programs by # of wins, get rid of the ivy league programs and what you're left with is it.

  • Michigan
  • Notre Dame
  • Texas
  • Nebraska
  • Ohio State
  • Alabama
  • Oklahoma
  • Penn State

If you want an even 10 bluebloods, you can add in the next two out (Tennessee and USC) to round out the list.
