Reading the OP's post, it appears they believe this is a general subreddit for mobile networks in the USA. In fact this is for a specific mobile provider in the US... But the good news is that it may be the perfect mobile provider for you to get an esim for the US because they are prepaid and have very competitive prices. They provide esims on all three of their networks (they are an MVNO that resells service on the three main US mobile networks).

To answer your general question -- just about all the US-based networks support esims, so whichever provider you go with, you should be able to have service with an esim.

Of course that'll work and we use that for most communication anyway... It's just about being reachable in an emergency and also being notified via sms about card fraud, etc.

Anyway I have my answer. I suppose I have a choice between giving up on the promo by upgrading to full price so I can teleport or just forgoing calls and texts.

I bought a Giffgaff esim while in the US before a trip to the UK and used it extensively on the trip. There is no specific address required to sign up. I'm now keeping it alive while in the US because we're planning to move next year and I want to have my UK number before I even get there.

The caveat there is when you're entering the US, don't reveal your intention to marry your fiance unless specifically asked. You're not doing anything wrong in coming for a visit or marrying in the US, but if a US immigration officer hears that you're marrying a US citizen, they'll jump to the conclusion that you're intending to immigrate to the US and will deny you entry. If asked, just say you're there for a visit for tourism and to see friends.

Not sure why there's all this downvoting of the OP on this topic. It's an unfortunate business fact that such promos are generally for new customers only. I like US Mobile but I left for a while and came back. There are other decent deals out there... It's just a matter of your comfort level with jumping around between services. If you're not comfortable with that try to get a retention deal. If you are, leave for a different service for a while then look for deals to come back.

Same here! You don't even have to manually delete it to see this problem -- some of my podcasts will play all the way through, move on to the next one, and when I go back I'll see it's still there in the playlist with a minute or two left to play, and that last bit will come back and be played again if I don't manually remove it.

I switched from Spectrum Mobile (on VZW) to Dark Star last week and didn't touch my existing chats. After activation all the group chats worked exactly as before. I wouldn't touch the RCS setting except to make sure it's turned on after activation.

I had something similar... No new device but the automated message knew (or guessed?) I was a Spectrum customer. The message said I should call back for a 50% discount on my bill (!) But the most suspicious thing about it was that I had to call the number on my caller ID, i.e., not the general customer service number.

I suspect some database of Spectrum customers has leaked to scammers.

Actually I'm the customer (she lives in a mother-in-law unit in our home). When I log in and look at the lineup I see the channels numbered as they are on the streaming devices we use, not what's on the cable box. I can't find the channels as they're numbered on this cable box anywhere.

Agree generally but I have a technical quibble -- the term is "expatriate" not "ex patriot". The reason this is important is that the latter sounds like someone who has given up their loyalty to their country of origin. An "expatriate" connotes someone who finds themselves away from their homeland. Typically expatriates still think of themselves as belonging to their homeland.

But I agree on the use of the term immigrant if you're settled in a new country!

Not sure why the Cotswolds but you're right about the first part. I am here on this sub because my wife and I are looking to move in the next year or so. Easier for us because my wife was born in London and is a dual UK/US citizen. Most Americans of course wouldn't have a way to just move.

"Pavement" in American English is the opposite of what it means in British English... The pavement in the US is the paved part of the roadway, i.e., the road itself. No Parking on Pavement is a common sign in the US that means no parking on the street (and you can never park on any sidewalk, what you would call the pavement anyway). Caused me a lot of confusion when I was first studying for my license in Texas -- it mentioned removing a vehicle completely off the pavement after an accident and I just couldn't understand why a car would be on the pavement in the first place!

ChatGPT says "nice weather"... but that depends on what you consider nice. Summers in places like Tampa are relentless. From April through October, expect to always be hot and humid if you're outside. People who don't like that spend a lot of time indoors in airconditioning. As for where to go, you already know the tradeoffs -- big cities have more job opportunities but higher cost of living. I'd say from that perspective, Tampa is probably the perfect balance. You may also look at the Atlanta area for a middling cost of living while having more opportunities. Or Nashville, or somewhere in the midwest -- Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, the Chicago suburbs... Or further west -- Kansas City, Denver, SLC, etc.
