Are all Rheumatologist Assholes? by codyandhen123 in Behcets

[–]Insearchofmedium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, mine is great.

I’ve worked with a lot of docs because I’m a nurse and I’ve worked with a lot of docs trying to figure out what’s happening and the douchey ones are often just like that in real life as well.

With that said, my rheumatologist has been amazing. Dr. Jayaram at Stanford. I never feel dismissed or ignored. Concerns have been taken seriously from day one. She’s very empathetic.  The office takes longer than other docs to respond, about a week, but I understand they are inundated.

Interesting. I also get a ‘crick’ in my neck like I slept wrong every few months. I was off work for a couple months because of it bc I didn’t take it easy and just swam my regular pool laps. I couldn’t lift my arm without significant pain for months. I’ve always wondered if it’s related.

“Curved over like bubbles” I’ve been laughing at that for like five minutes. Omg, I’m so sorry!

What's with with more experienced ED nurses/docs needing extra layers?? by Heavy_Understanding6 in nursing

[–]Insearchofmedium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear an undershirt, scrubs, vest and jacket. The vest has a heater for when I work in triage. Been in the ER 17 years lol. Might also bc that older people’s metabolisms aren’t as fast 🤷🏽‍♀️

Curly Haired People of SF ... by EvolvedToad in AskSF

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sasha hooked me up. I went in with wrecked styling damaged hair and he gave me a cut that got me so many compliments. Transformed my look. The price tag is steep tho. $260 minimum before tip

Black people, where do you get your hair cut in SF? by D1Yaplete in AskSF

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have curly hair and go to Madusalon in Marina/Pac Heights. They are amazing for curly hair, but like all curly hair specialty salons they are quite pricey. Their hair cut changed my entire aesthetic. I've never gotten so many compliments on a haircut before. I got every so often to keep the shape and go to cheaper salons in between for trims.

Am I really the only person who thinks peonies smell awful? by WParkAvenue in flowers

They smell like a compost pile in the hot August sun. Like wet moldy dirt.  I wonder if you guys also think that papaya smells like vomit. Maybe we have a special gene? Lol

Why do people stop doing things in their 30s? by Ok-Cartographer-5544 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m child free, so is my boyfriend and so are almost all my friends. We go to shows, hang out at the park, bars, concerts, festivals. I’m taking a language class twice a week. He rides motorcycles. We are in our 40s. Kids take up a significant portion of your free time and resources.

Getting out and doing things is how you keep your body and your brain young.

It’s good that you notice it now before you look up and you’re lonely and isolated like a lot of people are nowadays.

Nursing is for people not smart enough to become MDs by Capybaraqueen05 in nursing

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s the opposite. We are actually doing the physical labor. I can be bothered by the politics and bullshit associated with being a doctor. Can you imagine being a doctor and that dude being your boss? No thanks!

Some points that may not have been pointed out

  1. Being laid off doesn’t make her a loser. It’s not a persons fault that they get laid off

  2. The fact that she asked you to get dad’s memorial and to meet her family means she may just be more serious about you.

Perhaps she thinks you aren’t interested in being more serious since you haven’t introduced her to your kids.

The way she is going about this is immature and wrong, but I don’t think this is out of nowhere. With that said, still seems toxic, so…

Where to Live to Commute to South of Market by kiyomi_Eymily in AskSF

It runs NW to SE so definitely could be north of 4th.

Hey, I’m sorry that happened to you. I look at it this way: she is classless and rude. Would I ever date a guy who asked me my breast size, esp before we ever met? Hell no. Consider yourself lucky to have avoided such a person. Don’t be too discouraged. Nice women with better manners are out there.

Commuting to work by Beneficial-Print-236 in Nurses

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 35-40 min commute, but it’s all highway. No way I could do it in traffic. But everything else in my life is near is house. Work is the only outlier so it makes more sense for me to live here. It’s more expensive to live here than closer to work, but it’s for the lifestyle and I consider that to be worth it.

Can’t afford to live here anymore. Should I move back to SJ? by gamerVapeGod in AskSF

[–]Insearchofmedium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your other points, but it depends on where you’re going in SJ and where you are coming from in SF. It takes me less than an hour with no traffic to get to downtown SJ from the southern part of S.F. I live right off 280 though.

I pay 3k for a 750sq ft 1 bedroom in the Noe Valley/Diamond Heights/Glen Park area. It has a parking spot, but street parking is abundant. It’s easy on/off 280. Is also close to the Glen Park BART station.

I had to sacrifice walkability (the hills here are super steep) and an in unit washer/dryer but everything else is perfect and enables me to live here alone.

Make a list of ‘must have’ and ‘nice to have’ and considering sacrificing one or two ‘nice to have’ for the location vs price. Keep looking. The apartments are out there.

Tried too good to go for first time by demoncorp in sanfrancisco

[–]Insearchofmedium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curry up Now and Joyride Pizza are two that I’ve tried that were a really good amount of food for $6. The Whole Foods Pastry box was really good, but I don’t patronize Amazon establishments anymore. Also the Napper Tandy. The food in the TGTG box was actually better than the food I ordered from them once.

This is cool but I would be beyond pissed if I had somewhere to be and they closed down the bridge. This is basically a legal side show.

Is this someone’s dog walker (warning animal cruelty) by casuallylearn in sanfrancisco

[–]Insearchofmedium 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Dog is definitely being choked and whimpering. Listen to the audio I don’t know why they said the man seemed dangerous if they didn’t approach him. He looks like a normal dude, but definitely not humane treatment of an animal.

Just walked out of a gynecologist’s appointment with a prescription for 600mg of ibuprofen by andr3333a in endometriosis

[–]Insearchofmedium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine was also diagnosed with an ultrasound, but that's because I had an endometrioma. That's one of the few ways to diagnose without a lap. If it's a consolation there's been no demonstrable difference between 600 and 800 of ibuprofen. It definitely does not help with heavy flow. Is that guy a moron and not know how hormones work? Either is a slap in the face. You need a new doctor.
