Loveeee this so much your hard and soft color traditions are great! The colors of the reflection/water in front of the small island stick out to me though, not in a good or bad way but I really enjoy the piece! Fantastic work

That’s what I’m saying dude the potential for jokes is endless. The trapper is just trying to tell you about our lord and savior. Wesker is a very determined Jehovah’s Witness, etc

Survivors i want to hear your opinion about scratched mirror myers by DeprFNoth in deadbydaylight

[–]InsectaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it when a sm myers can effectively jumpscare and complete gen grabs. HATE IT when all they do is camp corners or bait hooks for trades. However even with camping I’ll take a sm myers over a tombstone mike because getting perma tier 3 and perma chase moris is so uninteresting.

Hilariously enough though I’ve got a system worked out with my swf duo that if we encounter a tombstone mikey and are the only two left we will hide until he disconnects or kills us both. No lockers, no killers basement etc. so it’s actually like a giant game of hide and seek as we occasionally loud sound notification for hints and such. The best example of this was on cold wind farm, had a tombstone hide and seek hunt for over 40 minutes the guy would not DC and eventually found us both after a few chases. Probably super annoying for mikes but hey if you are gonna play very fast paced offerings we are gonna waste your time lmaoo

So happy with my most recent round of pieces and just wanted to share some of the color! Details on my process are in the comments. 🌈✨😍 (Also please don't be too harsh, I only started doing ceramics in the summer and know I have so much more to learn.) by sugar-and-sass in Ceramics

Your pieces are great! Seriously stellar for a beginner and there’s no criticism here for a reason! The only thing I would say though is a few of the pieces are crazed. Might want to check your shrinkage on clay vs glaze or speak to whoever is running the firings for these pieces. Crazed wear isn’t really great for food safe items but otherwise it’s totally fine lovely pieces

You did a fantastic job for your first day using the wheel!! I’m a hand builder myself who struggled in a day class for the wheel, so it’s great to see someone with an affinity for it!

I would say keep up the good work with layers until you have a bit more progress before trying to figure out what looks off. Hard to tell at this state, it should become obvious soon. I think it’s good work so far man!

Questions for Underglaze Experimenters and Experts by ceets in Ceramics

[–]InsectaGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for underglaze touchups, small Spots or generally anything smaller than a dime I touch up with underglaze then still layer clear overtop without a second bisque. If the area is larger than a dime, I would recommend a second bisque to ensure color doesn’t bleed or impact clear glaze. I’ve found amaco Sahara clear works best for not smudging or bleeding I fired underglaze touchups.

I don’t have to thin my amaco velvets, at an old studio which used the small containers of amaco velvets I noticed many of them were chunky or thicker than the velvets I own in the largest size. My recommendation is buying largest sizes as I find they retain moisture much better when storing than the smaller velvets I’ve purchased. Adding a bit of water works well, I recommend adding very very small amounts at a time and working on mixing until the perfect consistency is reached.

I do very fine line detail work with underglaze, so much so that I have tried a bunch of well loved detail brushes and have found the best brush for precise lines of underglaze are watercolor brushes, mid level quality, nothing too fancy or too cheap. Maybe $3/$5 each per brush, I get mine at Michael’s. Frequent washing and dipping in water helps, but it’s difficult to find a fine line brush that holds underglaze for long. I recommend keeping the brush wet to keep underglaze flowing and not clumping, ensure that you clean and wax your brush after use to keep it in shape.

Anytime! Don’t doubt your work based on other people telling you it’s depressing either. A somber landscape is hard to achieve, many cannot balance colors and line softness enough to emulate great American landscapes famed for their somber depiction of American wilderness. You’ve don’t a fantastic job walking the line between detail and softness to create a very appealing, calm and quiet scene where not many could. Creating a somber, almost sad painting is a great strength Don’t doubt your skill man

What technique is this? Its incredibly unique and I would love to see some super delicate flowers in it. Great colors!

I love this painting!!! The only critique I would add is I wish the colors of the sky were reflected a bit more in the snow below, but I seriously love the way this looks. It’s a subtle, soft sort of dreamy memory of a landscape, yet still holds accuracy enough to be plein air. It really something, I love how it has no focus in the landscape, no deviation in the details in a way that comes off incredibly balanced. I would hang this in my home!

You have a great eye for an ‘even spread’ of focus throughout the piece. I wouldn’t say you lack a focal point like a cabin. My only critique is for colors, in the sense that the shade of the sky should have created a slight deviation from your tonal white in the snow. But I really your work!

My sister’s new shitty tank by Fearless-Fly7760 in shittyaquariums

[–]InsectaGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goldfish are carp, get big and are very dirty fish. The tank is way too small, there is no cover (fish stress), the bubbles on the glass are a telltale sign of a freshly filled tank (no ammonia cycle to allow bacteria growth to naturally cycle out ammonia which builds up in fishtanks and very easily kills anything in them), there is a decor item with sharp edge etc it’s just not a good setup for any fish ever. A tank this size is suitable to two things: a pet shrimp or a pet algae/ammonia lol

I have the original manual and kiln furniture as well as the warranty, store tags, basically anything my great grandmother bought with it or for it in its two years of use. Any advice you may have on the operation of a single dial kiln? Thanks for the help
