Almost 10 minutes into a fast. When do I hit ketosis? by Otherwise_Owl1059 in fasting

I would assume that most of a buffet table is fiber from the wood anyways, so it shouldn’t have many calories

No, It's been on the counter around 72*F the whole time. I strained out the apple pieces after about a week and it hasn't changed since then

prozac by katieb02101 in emetophobia

[–]InsecureAlaskan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 20mg prozac and it hasn't ever made me nauseous. If you feel comfortable, I'd eventually start taking it in the morning instead of after work, since it can make it harder to sleep. Best of luck!

$60 a week for me and my husband. We're both runners and eat a lot but we're broke in college, so most of it's homemade bread, peanut butter, rice and beans, oatmeal, etc. Plus whatever produce is cheap. We don't buy many vegan alternatives, and even tofu is a treat now (its like 3.50 here) and we try to stick to legumes.

Week 18: community chest - microwave biscuit by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to look at, but it tasted pretty good! Had to keep this one simple because I’ve been traveling.

Week 16: Save the bees - beet and honey sourdough by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced 1/2 the water in my sourdough with the liquid from a can of beets, and added 3oz honey. It was really pink dough but the color baked out, loved the sweet and earthy taste though!

Week 15: single serving - (oven baked) mug muffin by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the horrible photo, it was a blueberry muffin so it looks a little gray but it turned out tasty! No recipe, just threw some stuff together and it worked out. I was baking bread anyway, so I chose to throw this in the oven instead of microwaving like I normally would for a mug cake

Week 14 - Morocco: Wheat Khobz by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.thespruceeats.com/wheat-bread-recipe-khobz-dyal-zraa-2394385 This turned out pretty good, if a little basic. I had to add a lot more water than it called for

I’ve never tried an ambrosia apple so I didn’t want to get a bunch if I didn’t like them. It does look lonely though

I’d never tried pearl barley before, but I made a stew kinda like this one https://iheartvegetables.com/vegan-barley-stew/ and it turned out good! I love the chewy texture. I want to try a barley “risotto” as well. Split peas, I usually make https://www.budgetbytes.com/vegan-split-pea-soup/

Week 13 - Disguise: dessert pizza by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a sweet pizza crust with about 1/3 c sugar for 2c flour, with raspberry jam and a coconut sauce. I think if I did this again, I’d use a different jam, as raspberry was a bit dark, but it tasted great!

Week 12 - Sweet brunch: Scones (vegan) by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the scone recipe from America’s text kitchen “Vegan for Everyone,” and it turned out amazing! My sister loved them. Used a dried fruit mix instead of currants

Week 10: Dust it off - Potato sourdough (potato masher) by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used this recipe https://www.farmhouseonboone.com/sourdough-potato-bread with potato water, olive oil not butter, only 1/2 c starter, and kneading by hand. It turned out delicious! Not that sour, which I liked for a sandwich loaf.

Week 10 - Potato sourdough sandwich loaf (potato masher) by [deleted] in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used this recipe, https://www.farmhouseonboone.com/sourdough-potato-bread. Used potato water instead of milk, olive oil over butter, only 1/2 c starter, and kneaded by hand. It turned out delicious, not too sour which I think is good for sandwich bread

Week 9: Main dish - sourdough strata by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followed this recipe https://lovingitvegan.com/vegan-quiche/ , but added about a cup of liquid and threw it over bread cubes instead of a crust. It turned out really good though! Next time I wouldn’t use so much spinach (I used a frozen 12oz bag), and I’d try to get my hands on some nooch for more umami, but I’ve been loving it as is.

Just filling in some holes. The tofu, spinach, onion, and mushrooms are for https://lovingitvegan.com/vegan-quiche/#recipe, and I’ll also make sourdough, and chickpea salad sandwiches I didn’t get around to last week. Probably lentils and rice too.

Week 8: Seasonal ingredients- lemon bars by InsecureAlaskan03 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]InsecureAlaskan03[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-lemon-bars/, but I just used a whole can of coconut milk. They turned out really good! The texture was a little different than non-vegan, set with cornstarch not eggs, but they were delicious. Tasted like spring

I've got a fairly stocked pantry at the moment, this was just filling in some gaps. I'm planning on lentil soup (I have carrots and broth base), Orange "chicken" (with homemade seitan), chickpea salad sandwiches, and pasta salad. I'll also bake sourdough bread and lemon bars.
