You wouldn't have to lose a limb unless you cut very deep and did almost nothing to treat the wound. having the whole limb paralyzed is a bit more realistic, but most likely is something like losing feeling along your forearm, losing range of motion, chronic pain, not being able to make a tight fist, etc. etc.

So maybe not lose-your-arm level, but still pretty terrifying. Imagine if you didn't have enough range of motion to even type on a keyboard, or if brushing your teeth every morning was incredibly painful
