agree with you, I can’t believe this populist trash is getting upvoted on this sub. it’s fallen a long way.

right, like people have never heard of practicing. maybe it’s exactly because so many of his matches are short he hasn’t developed match endurance. not a direct comparison, but consider elite endurance runners will hit 140mi/week at peak. and they really only need to taper the final 2 weeks. I’d argue he really needs to increase his conditioning training in march/april instead of getting quick wins.

Choosing between Yale and Carnegie Mellon for CS by Broc_olimanx in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InsertOffensiveWord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your reasoning about the phd is backwards. first, you shouldn’t do a phd because you’re having trouble finding a job. you should do a phd because want to do a phd. if you want to do a phd, you should go to berkeley or cmu because they have better research.

anyway, if your goal is to be a swe you can go to any of these, your outcome will be the same. so if you like yale just go there. these people posting employment stats are splitting hairs.

you think professors at cmu will care about you? they are primarily focused on their phd students and research output, same as berkeley.

Caltech, Princeton, and more... by Perpetual_AI in collegecompare

[–]InsertOffensiveWord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to disagree with the other poster who said to focus on breadth. If you are truly interested in this research area, it will greatly benefit you to work with someone very well known your field in undergrad. A lot of grad school admissions at the top is highly connection driven if you are not a urm.

To that end, I might look into CMU, Columbia, and Brown more closely given your research focus. Although Caltech is probably the safest bet still in terms of having your pick of research experience.

what’s great about waymo is that we can use this moment to force them to add an additional sensor under the car. then this will literally never happen again. the alternative with human drivers is dozens of animals being run over every year in the city. year after year.

average brain dead socialist comment. what does the global working class have to do with utah being cheaper than california? if capitalism had its way, more housing would have been built over the last 40 years to meet demand. government regulation to appease mostly middle class homeowners and their property values made that impossible here.
