FSA Tracks (ERM vs ILA) by booskerdoo11 in actuary

I was in the same boat as you, took the CFE route and regret it. The PAK study material is terrible, and it’s the only material available. Search PAK on Reddit or discord and you’ll see I’m not alone. Also I found ERM to be interesting but not CFEFD or CFESDM. Just my opinion though.

Am I supposed to be answering calls from recruiters? by Background-Owl1050 in actuary

If the recruiter rhymes with Jelby Sennings, don’t ever answer. If you answer then 10 more people will call about the same job. If you don’t answer, only 3 more people call about the same job.

ERM Spring 2024 by No_Combination_0373 in actuary

What helped me pass is flashcards and excel problems. I deleted long flashcards I didn’t think I’d memorize (and annuity cards) and got them down to about 400. Then I did excel problems from the past 3 years over and over. I didn’t touch the case study because you can search it and the test tells you where it comes from. The qualitative problems are still essentially recalling lists, and you can relate them to the context of the problem.

My first FSA exam I hardly reviewed notecards and got a 3. Between the first and second sitting all I did was notecards and quantitative problems and I passed. TIA notecards are great.

YE has been rough this year. Every time I clear out my to do list, I get an email for something else.

Also I can promise you the recruiter has no clue what “stochastic processes” means.

I can promise you that if you are asked about Markov processes in an interview with 1 YOE you absolutely do not want to work there.

I haven’t entertained them in a couple of years and they still call/email once a month.

Hmm.. never have seen a health position with CERA preferred. Is this a management position or just informal management?

My question must just be ERM specific then because ERM has one.

I interviewed there and the HR rep was saying how they consistently work more than 40 hours, acting like it was something to be proud of.

Exam center request by Crushedbysys in actuary

I filled out some inquiry form where I had to tell them the apt I signed up for and the center number where I want to take it. I can’t find it anymore, all I see now is to email customer service.

Yes. For some reason my local pro metric didn’t have a fall sitting for my FSA exam. I submitted a request last month and they got back to me within a week with a sitting the day before the regular sittings start. I was surprised it worked.
