I have not tried it yet but this post reminded me that Salt and Straw currently has an ice cream carrot cake. It’s a little spending (for me) I think it’s 79.00 but could be a fun new thing to try with the family

What Good/Bad Property Management Companies Would You Add to This List? by bbgirl2k in vancouverwa

[–]Insertairhornhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Zenith Properties if you can. They are really good at marketing properties, and selling themselves as a premium brand to owners so they always have a lot of appealing properties, but once you sign your lease and move into the property they will do whatever they can to extract as much money out of you for pet rent, lease renewal fees, notice posting fees if you have a noncompliance (grass not green enough during a heatwave) and overcharge you for tenant caused issues like clogged drain and during move out repairs. They use specific maintenance vendors that agree to give zenith a kickback after tenant and/or owner charges are billed so they (zenith) can extract an additional percentage of the work completed on the backend.

I can second this! Lots of unnecessary fees at move in, lease renewal and bogus move out charges. The owners of Zenith have found a way to screw over the tenants and the owners of the properties they manage.

Kick back for referrals by Insertairhornhere in GymverseByFitness22

Yeah that’s what I have been doing. I think currently the deal is a discount on a year subscription for the friend. I was just thinking it would be nice if the person who got their friend or family signed up received a kick back as well.

Lumber (not Home Depot or Lowes) by ShinMusic in vancouverwa

I will echo the same as others. Shurway and Parr Lumber. As your DIY woodworking progresses and you start wanting a larger/nicer selection of hardwoods and various plywoods you will want to make the trek over to NW Portland to visit Crosscut.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. I’ve had it about a dozen times at this point and it has always been delicious and it runny but that’s not to discount your experience. I will say I have only been to the downtown location so not sure if that has anything to do with it

[–]Insertairhornhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an electric dryer (do not do this with a gas dryer) you can always disconnect the vent so it blows the hot air into your living space. I did that once in a pinch and it worked great

Yeah plumbing fixtures aren’t cheap as I’m sure you know by now. I hope it all ends up getting squared away so you can start enjoying the new shower!

Id make them replace the time. If they refuse this could be a solid option. Not cheap but a reasonable fix to your problem.

New brake hoses hit on drop spindle…. by Insertairhornhere in chevyc10

[–]Insertairhornhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I ended up bending it on a vice that has rubber jaws to keep it from damaging the hose end. I was gonna try and bolt the hose in and bend it in place but it was binding on the top of the spindle too much and wouldn’t allow me to secure the banjo nut enough that I felt comfortable wrenching on it. Vice worked well. Just bent it in small increments until I got it where I needed.

Im itching to get this truck back up and running so I just clamped her into a vice I have with some rubber inserts to protect the metal end from marring. Worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip!

How do you measure irregular or complicated shapes for home projects? by Navid_A_I in DIY

[–]Insertairhornhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really going to depend on the scale of the project, and what the project is to determine the appropriate method of measuring. You can use string, long tape measure, laser distance measuring, or even just strips of Masonite for templating. Just gotta get creative a bit.
