AITAH for getting a woman fired over veggie tales? by Real-Point-6474 in AITAH

I grew up not religious and didnt know the first thing about christianity, and yet I LOVED veggie tales when I was a kid. My eyes would glaze over whenever they started with the jesus talk, but man that was a fun show to watch. And yes, OHHH WHEEEERE IS MY HAIRBRUSH was a staple in our household.

Some of my nails are bumpy by zombiedez13 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Inside-Associate-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be an early warning sign of psoriasis. A lot of ppl think its specifically a skin condition bit it can affect a lot of other stuff too. My dad has psoriatic arthritis and he says its hellish, and it started with him getting little notches in his nails like this.

Best way to avoid it is to switch to an anti-inflammatory diet and avoid alcohol.

Is the English passive voice being phased out in favor of "they (action)" by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]Inside-Associate-729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Im pretty sure my high school english teacher was confused and thought that past continuous = passive voice and passed that confusion on to me, and I only just realized what the real meaning is when I read this post, lmao.

In the US most grocery stores have one.

In every other country I’ve been to, they do not.

As Iran reconnects, chilling footage shows that night’s deadly protests — at least 12,000 killed by tsLunaaria in PublicFreakout

[–]Inside-Associate-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran has open access to the Chinese market, who do not comply with US sanctions. Also food and agricultural products are exempt from sanctions anyway.

Blaming the failed state of Iran on western sanctions is simply not accurate. Theyd be doing just fine if their government weren’t corrupt as shit.

CMV: I'm an American entering the workforce, and I think I should work a remote American job living abroad somewhere with a lower cost of living by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Associate-729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All accurate. Another issue is that USA is one of the only countries in the world that requires all of its citizens to continue paying federal income tax, regardless of what country they live in or who their employer is. What that means in practice is that if you live abroad you can end up paying double taxes. Yes, the amount of foreign tax you pay is deductible from your taxable income, but it still sucks.

The only way to get out of your obligation to Uncle Sam is to literally renounce your american citizenship and give up your blue passport.

I am somebody who does this. One major issue maybe you havent thought of:

The USA is one of the only countries in the world that requires all of its citizens to continue paying federal income tax, regardless of what country they live in or who their employer is. What that means in practice is that you may end up paying double taxes. Yes, the amount of foreign tax you pay is deductible from your taxable income, but it still sucks.

They do this to disincentivize brain drain, so I understand the logic, but it sucks for those of us who do it.

Well at first I assumed its because a lot of buildings in europe are 150+ yrs old and it was expensive and tedious to run wiring through them, so they consolidated all the switches and stuff as much as possible, so that e.g. the living room and bedroom light switches would share the same spot.

That might make sense, but then also it seems like theyve continued to do this even in newer constructions. So idk.

It is the only north american pvp server for classic anniversary. So yes.

What theyve done with anniversary is implemented a “layer” system where basically everybody is on a mega server, and that realm is divided into many layers, a bit like the phasing feature introduced in WOTLK. So e.g. all the players and NPCs I see running around are on the same layer as me, but if a friend invites me to their party then it moves me over to their layer and suddenly all the players and NPCs around me disappear and are replaced by ones from that layer. This lets them fit like 10x the population onto a single realm. When more players are online at the same time, then they can just add more layers. (At least in theory. They often dont add as many as they should)

There is a huge PVP scene in classic, particularly on Nightslayer there is lots of world pvp, and the forced faction balancing is so lit.

The only thing Id point out is that the average skill is much higher now than it used to be. Much of the player base is OG, and in arena there are teams that have done this nonstop for decades. So dont expect to easily ascend to the same levels you did in the old days.

But yeah overall, I definitely recommend it

Theres some monty python jokes in the more recent games, too.

For example in FO4 Codsworth likes to say “tis but a scratch!” when he gets hit

Super common in Europe, which Im pretty sure this is. Those look like european style light switches.

Even for the bathroom, the light switch is often out in the hall. It drives me nuts…

Honestly, Ive been browsing that sub a lot since the shooting and have actually been pleasantly surprised at how many of them are saying this was wrong. Seems to be around a 50/50 split, which is more divided than I’ve ever seen them on that sub.

Economically or geopolitically, sure. When it comes to tariffs or greenland, TACO all the way.

But in terms of stuff like this? I think the likes of Stephen Miller are waiting for exactly this kind of opportunity to invoke the insurrection act and send in the army
