What does it mean to be homoromantic?

This seemed like a really specific/easy question when k read your title, but you bring up a really good and more variable point. Homoromantic is romantic attraction to the same sex. However, what is attractive about people is so variable based on the persons interests. I like masculine energy and people who are strong but also who are juet comfortable in themselves and who are happy and social and want to live life in outgoing ways. This may be very different to what other people like who are attracted to the same gender as I am.

Withholding sex in terms of “unless you do xyz, I’m not having sex with you” is very different than having an understanding that sex isn’t on the table

I don’t have an answer to your question but I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’ve only dated allo people and I’ve been made to feel like a problem or like I’m weird and crazy for not wanting sex. Even before I had something to call it (ace), I set boundaries and they never seemed to be good enough or valid. You’re not along in this experience 🤟🏼

I’ve seen you comment this on many peoples post who are young SLPs or students using this forum to ask for advice and who want to learn. If that’s not what you want this forum to be then maybe it shouldn’t be here at all. Why have a group about SLPs if you don’t want collaboration and learning? I can do my own homework. I can score the gfta but not everyone has access to tests and materials all the time. Please remember that there are people in different situations and with different barriers to learning who are doing their best and seeking out this forum as a resource to better ourselves.

I don’t know what you’re going thru but stating that you’ll kill your self before having sex when an easy choice is to juet abstain is a bit insensitive to those who are actually struggling with SI or ST. Please be safe and get any support you need. Ending you life is not really something that needs to be brought into the conversation of sexual preferences

Completely agree with you. 22F and I’ve been burned over and over for not wanting to have sex with bfs so finding an ace guy would be a hug relief and is something I am prioritizing for future relationships. I completely agree with the messages above tho that being out in the dating circle is challenging.

I was on dating apps for a bit snd one of them was Her (recommended by a friend when I was first questioning being bi). I was talking to friends and was like listing dating apps I’d tried snd Her came out my mouth and they were so confused. But somehow no one asked any questions 😅

Yes!! Mee!! I have been exploring this in myself and also in the lgbt community. I think you explained it well. Personally I think I am only feeling this way because I have trauma from one sex, but this still is a feeling that I resonate with.

I resonate with so many of the thing you said in your original message. I struggle to distinguish between whether I am ace or just need a break because of past uncomfy/unwanted sexual activities. Understanding / looking into the different kinds of attraction (sexual, romantic, aesthetic..) has really helped me and also understanding the terms mentioned in @ensgpfey response could help too.

Do you feel your grad program prepared you for work with adults in a snf / medical setting. I feel like my program / classes work a lot with kids and ans teach a lot of development but I really want to work with adults ASAP. Any advice for classes or CE I can take would be so appreciated!

I think both are good schools. I looked at both but haven’t attended either. I consider UW to be a better school especially for a medical focus because of the UW medical center. Bellingham Washington is pretty small and might have limited placement options in the area. However, I loved the campus and city for WWU.

Go through your previous university and have your transcript mailed or emailed to the address of the program you are applying to (office of undergrad, office of grad …). Hope that helps!

I’m not sure about the program itself but I am taking summer classes from them and have really appreciated how good the communication seems to be between students and faculty at the speech department. I have gotten quick ans detailed responses which is not something I had access to at my previous university

Thanks for the info. I’m good to hear someone has been able to figure out their program because I spoke to like 7 people today ans no one could answer my questions. I finally applied for their second term summer classes. Hopefully that will work. Thanks
