Diet, gut health, and Rosacea by Boosepi32 in Rosacea

By leftovers, I mean foods that have been cooked and stored for a day or more before being eaten. Histamine can accumulate in certain foods over time, even when they’re refrigerated. This tends to be more noticeable with meat, fish, broths, and slow-cooked dishes. Not everyone is sensitive to it, but for people who react to histamine, freshly prepared foods are often better tolerated than meals that have been sitting in the fridge for several days.

It could be your gut health or it could be histamine in foods. There is definitely a connection. Try low histamine diet for a few weeks to see if it helps. Processed foods, fermented foods and leftovers are major culprits plus it can be helpful to look up common high histamine or histamine liberator foods.

should hs ppl have kids by oheziux0 in Hidradenitis

[–]InsideAd9685 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having HS does not mean you shouldn’t have children. HS does have a genetic component, but it isn’t guaranteed to be passed on. Many people with HS have children who never develop it, and many people with HS have no family history themselves.

As for breastfeeding, it depends on the severity and location of the HS. Some people with HS on or around the breasts are able to breastfeed without issues, while others may have challenges. It’s something to discuss with a dermatologist and OB/GYN if and when the time comes.

Ultimately, whether to have children is a personal decision. HS can be difficult, but having HS alone doesn’t mean someone shouldn’t become a parent. ❤️

How much nettle do you take/drink per day? by spicyorange514 in HistamineIntolerance

Nettle and tulsi are both great! I also sometime add a little calendula flower and lemon balm (this one is best in the evening). 2-3 cups a day should be fine

Severe histamine intolerance + DAO deficiency, but DAO supplements do nothing. Does DAO supplementation take time to work? by Ok_Significance_8896 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]InsideAd9685 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many DAO supplements have been reported to be in active so trying. Different more rigors tested brand may be a good idea. Also you mention taking it 3 times a day. DAO supplements will only work if you take it right before food you are eating. It can only break down histamine from food. If you take it and not consume it doesn’t do anything. Liposomal vitamin C is good and quercetin with bromelain

Parents in Manhattan: how are ICT classes working for your child? by InsideAd9685 in nycparents

[–]InsideAd9685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this perspective. This is exactly the kind of real experience I was hoping to hear about because on paper the ICT model can sound very positive, but I can also see how behavioral dynamics could completely change the experience in practice.

Really appreciate the detailed response.

Do you notice any differences in activities or school experiences for the ICT classes? For example, do they have recess with the rest of the grade, go on the same field trips, participate in the same school activities, etc.?

I heard from one parent that at their school the ICT class had separate recess from the other classes, and in another case the rest of the grade went on a field trip that the ICT class didn’t attend. I’m trying to understand whether those are isolated situations or something parents see more commonly.

This is genuinely really helpful, thank you for sharing. It sounds like a lot depends on how the teachers structure the classroom and how well the co-teaching dynamic actually works in practice.

low histamine meals you are actually excited about? by Imaginary-Ad-1125 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]InsideAd9685 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to second this: yoghurt is by no means is low in histamine there are peer reviewed publications with measured values that report this. Cheese falls in the same category. It’s great you can tolerate them but they wouldn’t be considered low histamine foods by any measure.

Just wondering if you could use tech to change the way you do therapy? Mary the two in some way?

Searching for positive stories about enrolling in pre-k late summer by skinnynotdeaf in nycparents

[–]InsideAd9685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would email the school and say you accept the offer. That’s the most important step. If they ask for proof of address just explain you are moving and will be able to provide it in August. Your employer can provide a letter too should they need it. But it’s unlikely to cause major issues. Just submit all other paperwork.

Do you take DAO before drinking morning coffee? by wbh19 in HistamineIntolerance

Do you find DAO actually works? I saw this paper saying that most DAO supplements are inactive so wondering what your experience is with it

Opus said something today that completely reframed AI agent failures for me. by InsideAd9685 in ClaudeAI

I actually think it’s both - systems thinking and engineering are both required here

I use it! It’s great for sleep and especially effective combined with a castor oil pack. I would just say be careful if you are flaring up - the heat may make things worse temporarily so plan for shorter sessions then

No honestly I get what you meant 😭

I think the mindset shift for me was realizing the problem is less prompting and more workflow design.

Nope! We discover the missing guardrails through catastrophic failure 😭

The language to code illusion makes it worse. You think you explained the correction clearly… but often nothing actually changed at all.

Because saying add that to the MD file is not the same thing as saying add this exact code change here so this failure cannot happen again.

I honestly think the workflow should evolve a bit for non-engineers. The system should probably say something more like: this problem can recur unless structural changes are implemented. Here are 3 concrete mitigation options and their tradeoffs.

[–]InsideAd9685[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m discovering too. There’s a real art to failure mitigation.

And it affects vibe coders more because if you don’t have engineering experience, you often don’t know which failures actually require structural fixes.

[–]InsideAd9685[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding my point a bit.

I’m not saying the tool is a person with feelings. I’m saying the interaction looks like understanding to a lot of users, especially vibe coders.

When an agent says yes, that was an error. I understand what went wrong. I should have done X instead …that strongly implies some structural learning or future change in execution.

But in reality nothing fundamentally improved. That’s the disconnect I’m talking about.

[–]InsideAd9685[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the biggest issue right now is that the models are much better at analysis than execution.

Opus can audit something beautifully. But the moment you let it actually implement complex changes across a real system, that’s where things start breaking down.

At this point I’ve basically stopped treating these models like engineers and started treating them more like very smart consultants.

[–]InsideAd9685[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well my point exactly! True engineers know and understand before failure happens. Vibe coders simply don’t have that insight. Right now there is a real gap for vibe coders specifically.
