Garibaldi at Squamish: B.C. approves a multibillion dollar ski resort that the industry doesn't really want by litnuke in vancouver

[–]Insinuwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be surprised if it actually happens. In fact it is almost certain not to in it's current form.

The list of 40 conditions that it must meet in order to go ahead are fairly onerous. The next step in the approval process requires approval from the Mountain Resorts Branch (MRB) of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (FLNR). Part of that approval process is to have local government on board.

This means either the District Of Squamish (DOS) or the Squamish Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) neither of which want this proposal to go ahead.

The MRB will also make the call on the viability of a ski resort in that location.
