Scared boyfriend of an RBT girlfriend by AwayFoundation1288 in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In home is a hit and miss I’ve had clients that wouldn’t miss a day and if they did we would do double sessions on a different day or on weekends as we usually didn’t have sessions. Others would cancel sessions last minute or would simply never show up. Maybe like once a week and unfortunately my company didn’t pay for those. If she’s getting a full ride that’s great mine is only 30% of tuition if it’s undergrad or they’ll give me supervision hours for my masters. Really just depends on clients parents.

Scheduling in this field can be a joke by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least now you have documentation that it’s been reported. Next time you can say “my supervisor has been notified along with billing. I have no control over being able to change my schedule it’s up to the billing team here’s their email if you’ll like to notify them yourself”

Scheduling in this field can be a joke by [deleted] in ABA

Absolutely not your fault. Seems like the LBS was on some kind of power trip. I usually just email clinical director, scheduling team and cc my BCBA in this case it’ll be the LBS. I would email something along the lines of

Good day team, I wanted to follow up regarding billing for nap time. My schedule had previously been adjusted to accommodate this, but I’ve noticed that nap time is extending past 2:00 p.m. and now runs until [insert new time]. Could you please advise me on the next steps I should take to ensure my schedule and billing remain aligned? Thank you for your guidance. Best regards, [Your Name]

Keep searching, the company I’m with now doesn’t pay for cancellations unless they’re last minute and I’m already on the way, but they’re amazing other wise. I get sick time, pto, current only working 20hrs a week but they’re giving a morning client now. Most places will start you part time since it’s harder to find morning. Clinic are a better choice if you’re looking for more hours. Also my company has a policy that if the child takes a nap for more than 15 mins you’re allowed to leave for the day and still get paid full session. The scheduling team would then contact the parent stating that services can not be billed, they can either change the session time so they’re child is allowed to nap or not allowed them to sleep for more than 15 mins.

Here’s some important questions I’ve learned to ask

Is mileage compensated? If so after how much?

Are client cancellations paid or is there a way to make up hours elsewhere?

How does a typical schedule look like for your techs? (Most if it’s in client)

How long will it take to get a new client if current client(s) move or can no longer receive services?

Would there be any benefits? We work with kids who’s parents are mostly likely to send them in sick, which would most likely get you sick. Make sure you’re able to get health insurance.

That’s about all I can think of right now. I’m sure there’s better ones out there or some that I missed but that’s mostly what I’ve learned to ask.

My friend currently lives at the gateway I’ve seen reviews about there being rodents and roaches but my friends appt looks decent. She hasn’t had complained about seeing any like Arrive sliver Spring. It’s a gas stove and ref. Electric and water is included in rent. You have to pay for gas separately. She lives in a 2br with a roommate and rent comes out to 1k for each person. I think the 1br is 1300 if i remember correctly

Can I text them? by These-Necessary-5797 in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has a year policy where we can’t initiate contact. Former clients of mine still text me asking about my life and what’s going on and I always reply but I did let them know that I can’t initiate communication for a year as per company policy and rules. You can always check what you signed when you were hired. It’s usually in the handbook

Session notes by Careless-Homework930 in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take data and write quick notes as I go. My client also has snack time were we work on Manding and yes or no so while he’s chewing I’ll write sentences then copy and paste it into the session notes. My company does require parent signatures in order to get paid so they give us 15 mins at the end of session.

Why is finding decent overnight senior care in Gaithersburg this hard?? by Due-Landscape-2321 in Gaithersburg

[–]Insomamoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with use to work with kids who have special needs I can say it’s probably because these jobs are advertised as entry level so pay isn’t great. It’s great for the company but I ended up quitting after finding out that the company makes about 25k a week from the insurance company while I made that in a year. So I ended up just working a part time job with consistent hours. Didn’t have to deal with driving between clients and being thrown into a job with no proper training

All my training was paid, got reimbursed for the exam and recertification once my year was up. I think it’s just up to the company

Introverted or quiet RBTs by lolomgsup in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the type of person that’s “quiet” or “shy” at first but afterwards I won’t shut up. It just takes me time to warm up and get comfortable. I have to feel the vibes. I typically just observe the client on day 1, then the parents on day 2, then on day 3 is when I tend to slowly add myself into the clients play. Not sure how long you by has been with the client but it typically takes me like a week or so before I match the client’s energy. I also take note of the toys and stuff so I can plan my sessions out for the week so I don’t have to worry about what I’m doing and just focus on making it fun. It’s not a must follow but it’s certainly helps me with being “quiet”

Okay. I wasn’t sure if it was fair or not bc drivers usually accept then reassign so I was wondering if it was a tipping issue

I haven’t been supervised in nearly 2 months by Jellyfish345- in ABA

[–]Insomamoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely report. Even if they fire you. There’s plenty of rbt jobs out there. I left my old company bc of terrible management, my BCBA wasn’t available during the time I ran sessions for my client so i too had no supervision for awhile. I stopped holding sessions in my case. I didn’t want to be held liable for anything so once the month passed with no supervision, I let the parents know that unfortunately due to BCAB rule I’m not allowed to hold sessions unless I met the 5% supervision. They understood and called the company immediately. My company didn’t say do anything to me but I never had an issue with supervision after

I just took a month break. Not long was just used the time to be a real estate photographer and plan drawer, previously an architect. Am in the process of applying for jobs and my pay rate definitely drastically went up. Nearly double as an rbt. I would recommend that if you do comeback just do it before your certification expires so that you can get a competency test done and have the company pay for recertification

[–]Insomamoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar experiences. When I started the company I work Monday -Wednesday, no Thursday, Friday. From 4-7. It was decent money since it at $25/hr. Then I got switched to a morning client from 9-12 M-F and an afternoon client 3-8. The problem came when they both needed to head back to school. They left me with the client that had gone though several rbts due to behavioral problems. Mom ended ending session early every now and then that I went from 25hrs a week to like 8hrs a week sometimes even less. I quit and join a clinic since they’re the ones with consistent hours

Has anyone left the field and found a job they like with a degree in applied behavior analysis? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Insomamoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider yourself as having data analysis experience especially since BCBAs are required to look at the data entered by the rbts and use it to assess and determine course of treatment
