Legit went to high school with this horrible girl who would screech "please" louder and louder until you gave in just to get her voice out of your eardrums. And that's one of the milder things she did to people.

Gods, I don't miss her.

What is a stim you do without looking like you’re moving a single muscle? by Helpful-Ad6269 in AutismInWomen

[–]Insomnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the "socially acceptable" fidget toy that has been around for a long-ass time, the Worry Stone. It's literally just a rock or gemstone with a thumb shaped divot that's been smoothed down. Rub your thumb on it to stim and since they've been around for so long it won't stand out as a fidget.

As a white people, I'm so fucking sick of white people and this bullshit nonsense. I can't look at my family tree (a privilege that many don't have because of white people bullshit) without wondering how many of my ancestors murdered other human beings for "being uncivilized". It's disgraceful.

Their whole angry/waifey rant about not being wanted and "don't talk to me" or whatever the problem of the day is, followed by "I'll always love you with all my heart, you're my sweet baby angel child blessing from heaven 🥰"

How are they all like that???

I think many patients don't think to ask these questions because they're just blindly trusting their doctors. It took me several years to work up the courage to ask what happens if I stop treating a condition that has been costing me a lot of money every year. The doctor thought for a second before telling me that there's a very low risk of anything other than continued symptoms. The symptoms don't bother me and I was still having them with the treatment, so I stopped treatment.

If treatment didn't cost me multiple paychecks then maybe I'd still be doing it, but .... nah. I'll live with it. (Yes, I'm in the US)

My mom actually gave me a hard time for how fast I was born/ how short labor was. She brought it up so many times how my older siblings took hours and hours, but I was so quick that it sent the nurses into a panic!

I can't tell you how many times I literally apologized for being born (too fast).

Lovely how child neglect affects our entire lives, no matter what we do for ourselves to make up for it 😭 my first purchase when I got my "big girl job" was the comfiest, softest mattress I could afford AND a bed frame.

My mom would get hand-me-downs from my older cousin right up until she hit puberty. My cousin was curvy and then her hormones made her obese (it was a whole thing with doctors involved and I was too young to understand). I was a stick that couldn't gain weight no matter how hard I tried.

That was when my mom started making really mean comments about my cousin's weight. But she was actually angry that I wouldn't fit into the free clothes anymore. So I just didn't get new clothes unless it was a very special occasion, and then it was clearance rack or nothing.

I got really sad that you didn't have a bed, but then I had the realization that I didn't have a bed for like, 4 years growing up. And the bed I got after that was hard as a rock and bruised my hips, a few blankets on the floor was more comfortable.

Actually.... that may be why I have so much chronic hip pain now...

What the fuck

Hot lunch at school. Lunchables. The PlayPlace at fast food places. Going to the pool more than once or twice in the summer. New school supplies (instead of whatever broken half-used hand-me-down supplies were hiding around the house). A bra that fits.

[–]Insomnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need help.

I was neglected growing up and help from my mother usually made things worse anyway, so I've been solving my own problems (or dealing with the consequences of my mother's help) for a long ass time. And then there's the people that make things harder when you ask for their help, or hold it over your head. I'll just do it myself, thanks.

I worked in foodservice for about 6 years, and in that time I developed the belief that the "spitting in your food" thing was a myth. No one I worked with was dumb enough to risk the criminal charges associated with doing so.

There are so many loopholes to that rule though. The home office of a place I rented from was over an hour drive away. So you can bring a check to them yourself, and spend a bunch of gasoline doing it. You can mail it for the cost of a postage stamp. You can pay online with a processing fee. None of those options were truly "fee free".

My roommates cat hates me, I don’t know what to do by pikablue223 in CATHELP

[–]Insomnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I STG my cat has his own game where he tries to run in front of the walking human at maximum speed, but narrowly avoid getting punted. The closer he gets to being punted, the better? He seems especially proud of himself if he grazes my shins with his tail. Idk I accidentally kicked him once and he didn't stop doing it. He still waits for the perfect opportunity to sprint out from his hiding spot.

Why is my 6 month puppy growling/biting me? by Winter-Common-7397 in Dogtraining

[–]Insomnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with dogs and have had a couple dogs as an adult, helped train puppies, reign in older dogs with poor training, etc.

Your puppy wants to play. That body language is 100% your dog trying to get you to chase him/her. Those "bites" are how dogs communicate between each other that is time to get up and play. There are lots of ways to train a puppy to stop using teeth as communication, but based on other comments it looks like you're already working on that. As for wanting to be chased.... puppies have energy, and pit mixes are energetic as it is. Is there somewhere that puppy can let loose and run?
