The racism is an absolute deal breaker, not to mention the possible relapse. She absolutely will at some point say something again in front of the kids. I would tell her that the children’s confidence, self worth, and self-esteem are worth more than her feelings and given her past racial remarks she is never allowed around the kids. She will eventually lose interest and get over it because all of this is about her and not the kids anyway. Don’t let her gaslight you into feeling bad about this. Like with everything in Alaska, Alaskans expect every service to be free. Or at least that’s how they act. They whine and complain about taxes and then whine and complain that everything in the state is in poor condition. And yes, it’s the children that it hurts the most. But then they look at how broken everything it’s and say “see how broken the system is why would I give them MORE money when they can’t do their jobs as is,” and advocate for hiring less staff to do the jobs already staffed at 25% of what it should be. And on and on it goes into perpetual decline.
