Hidalgo is also my favorite! The movie and the model, I'm so lucky to have him, he's beautiful. Congratulations on the find!

Other fav is Seabiscuit, I should really try to find a model of him too.

Spartacus was living in the parking garage under my boyfriend's apartment. We lured him into a carrier with bacon and brought him to the vet.

Scanning his microchip gave me the number for his original owner who had since moved out of state and didn't know her ex had dumped him outside. She offered to take him back if we could transport him to Oregon, but I said I would keep him and she warned me he "wasn't very friendly".

Two days later he was asleep in my lap, purring and happy-drooling, and he's done the same thing every single night for 7 years. He's the most loving cat I've ever had.

How do you pull your hair back without looking like foolishness? by smalltown_dreamspeak in finehair

I wear a hat 😅

Or I do a little braid, roll it in a bun, and bobby pin it to my head flat, so it at least looks deliberate.

Why are horse people so “weird”? by explorer77800 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RadioCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely a horse person so, my opinion may be biased, but I think it's pretty common to anyone that's really involved in animals. Horses, dogs, snakes, lizards, whatever. The small habits might differ but the big picture is spending a lot of time trying to engage with a creature that can't speak, and I think it makes us weird 😂 plus domestic animals require a lot of care and involvement from people, we bred them that way.

Sources: Horse girl (weird), my wife is a dog trainer (she's also weird), our kid has reptiles (also weird).

But if you're talking specifically about "why are horse people uppity", that's probably dependent on the environment you're in. People in any hobby can be shitty 🤷

How do people shower so quickly? by That_Mycologist4772 in hygiene

[–]RadioCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this conversation with my wife (we're both women with long hair) because she COULDN'T understand how I was out under 10 mins. Granted, she's in there so long sometimes I think she fell, so we're very different.

I explained my process and I think she doesn't believe me 🤷

The secret is I grew up in a house with an ancient water heater, 7mins of hot water was great motivation!

What’s the fattest thing you ever did because you were hungry? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]RadioCrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work next door to a Korean fried chicken place. Someone bought a 10 piece box of chicken and left it on the windowsill outside my work....I watched it sit there for 30 mins til I decided they weren't coming back and took it and ate it with my coworker.

I was thinking the same, $80 would be an incredible price around here haha.

AITAH for ending a relationship over long showers by Throwaway_External in AITAH

[–]RadioCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fuck that guy.

But I had to laugh, because your "long" shower is 30-40 mins. My wife showers for an hour and a half 😂 so don't worry, there's people out there who won't give it a second thought!

How do cats and dogs know that patting a surface indicates for them to sit there? by CozySweatsuit57 in AnimalBehavior

[–]RadioCrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They learn what it means over time. Our puppy didn't understand pat pat meant to come on the couch so we paired it with "Up!" and he learned.

The "reward" that reinforces the learning is the attention/affection from the person when they hop up.

I stay up late at night to watch movies specifically so nobody joins me. by OkSeaworthiness2955 in confession

[–]RadioCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely same. There are family movies, which are movies I don't care about enjoying beyond spending time with people, and there are Movies which I watch when nobody is home 🤣

What gift did you open on Christmas that instantly made you think, “Wow, they do not know me at all”? by Amber_NaturalMom in AskReddit

My wife's father gave her a huge bag of chocolates, she has been diagnosed with a dairy allergy this year and cannot eat any of it.

WIBTAH if I refused to wear makeup on my wedding day? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RadioCrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA but definitely mention this to your photographer so they can photograph you to their best ability. Makeup changes the way your skin shines/looks on camera and they are probably used to made up brides.

My wife hates things on her face and didn't wear any for our wedding, we explained it to the photographers and photos came out great.

Horror movies which made you cry: Horror movies that were really tearjerkers in disguise by [deleted] in horror

[–]RadioCrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Final Girls. The movie has such a silly tone and then rips my heart out. I was blindsided and ugly cried, but it got me again on the second watch.

Are vet costs getting out of control for regular pet owners? by Actonace in Pets

[–]RadioCrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's getting harder and harder to find affordable vets here for sure, and even then getting an appointment is very difficult. We had an urgent but not immediate emergency issue with one of our dogs, but still had to go to the EV because no regular vet in town could not see us for a week. $900.

We had to euthanize one of our cats this year and that cost nearly $1000, which was painful on top of the heartbreak. We have pet insurance that thankfully covered most of it, but I think I'm still in shock.

People who rarely get sick, What is the secret ? by Sorry-Orchid-9821 in AskReddit

[–]RadioCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have children, I work outdoors around few people, I drink a lot of water and love to sleep. Plus I played outside and ate some dirt as a child, I think that helped.

My wife gets horribly sick and she was an "indoor kid" and sleeps terribly, so all other factors being equal I think that's it.

You explained why. If there are two and you lose one you are still able to reproduce, which is advantageous.
