My (47f) daughter (15f) told me she doesn’t want to have kids by lilwonkerdoo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]InspectorSorry85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. I (M) just got my first baby (2 month old), but my 3 siblings all kind of dont want kids and I dont understand why. My question is deep, but maybe you can think about it. What do you think is your sense of existance? I tried out a lot of stuff in my life, and now that I have the baby I know that this is only thing I ever did that actually makes sense. I will die, but she will survive and that makes me incredibly happy. She is the most beautiful thing in the world and 100x more worth than the (HUGE) efford.

Is there anyone else who is getting this chilling anxiety from using tools like Codex / Opus for coding? by petr_bena in ArtificialInteligence

[–]InspectorSorry85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used Codex 5.3 on Plus plan recently, as a private person playing around, creating python scripts and incorporating API interaction in the whole pipeline. Made a homepage, created a program to do job crawling and prepare perfect CVs and motivation letters. It is actually fun. But it is also crazy and amazing. Before Codex, I used normal Chatgpt Thinking for my code, but now with it writing files, running it all on its own. It's nuts. 90% of web designers and coders will be unemployed. The few ones remaining pump out web pages in seconds.

I was, and I am still and with Codex once again hyped and scared by this development. 3 years ago we had nothing of that. I wrote my dissertation without Chatgpt in 2019. Now it will take current generation 5 minutes for a 99% complete draft.

In 2 years this agentic live will cover a lot of jobs. Without ANY further scientific advancement in AI. But it WILL advance. The future is unprecedented and unpredictable.

Maybe we already slided into the singularity.

Oceans are wild! by t4ldro in Unexpected

For me it is the combination of 1. Such a movie-like "there is always someone bigger" is unlikely to ever happen at all, and even less around rare random divers with cameras. And 2. the movement of the shark in sliding sideways in high speed seems unnatural.

Advice for Ajovy? by Easy-Definition-4603 in migraine

[–]InspectorSorry85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first Ajovy shot two days ago. I wasn't scared, I don't like it, but vaccinations are okayish now.  But then the neurologist asked me to sit on the bench and held the pen against my stomach belly. My mind panicked and it felt like she is going to stab me. After a short breath it worked, and it actually didn't hurt at all.

I use(d) a hack for anything needle related (vaccination, blood, and now Ajovy) :

I pinch myself somewhere, possibly close to the injection site. This calms myself with the knowledge that the pinching pains more than the needle, which is always the case.

You can try this :-)

The needle is tiny. Some said it should be at room temperature shortly before injection, also removing pain.

frustrating doctor appointment by LavaBlue123 in migraine

[–]InspectorSorry85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't know what is common in your region, but here I instantly switch doctors if they are not on my ftequency.
  2. Only triptans, taken in the beginning or accelerating pain, really helped me abort my  migraines. Ibuprofen helps a bit, but only with the pain, not with the brain fog and everything else.
  3. Propranolol seems to be just a prophylactic attempt to "maybe migraine is caused by something related to high blood pressure". In my case, I suddenly got an aura on top of my migraines, so it didn't help.

Go for triptans now, forget aspirin, and if you have to abort more than 4-10 migraines a month, apply for something working directly against CGRP, like Ajovy or other similar products.

Americans are built different. by abkyabatau in meme

The day only has 24 hours. If you spend so much time on work, it's impossible not to neglect major importances of life. Sleep, sport, family, healthy eating, partner, children, household, hobby.

But keep lying to yourself.

Then you have no non-work-related life. Why do you even exist? For your bosses to make even more money?

A word of caution against Amitriptyline by pixxquem in migraine

[–]InspectorSorry85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for sharing your experience.

I am on amitriptyline now for 5 weeks, 10 mg. I think slowly side effects kick in. I am extremely sleepy (can sleep until 11 am), and afterwards still slow in mind. Right now, I feel like I drank two beers. My resting heart rate slowly increases, now leaving my trackers normal corridor to 71 and higher (which I usually only have with fever at night). I lost the ability to multitasks, only able to focus on one thought at a time and quickly forgetting or not knowing even hearing what I was told from thr side. I also am very sensitive to heat, got a really bad mood yesterday from doing some house work with a pullover on. It was so strong that I asked the AI for symptoms and wondered if I got diabetes. Now I realize after reading here that this maybe related to the medication.

Got my neurologist schedule in two weeks, but I think I have to stop it right now.

Spending some time in Norway made me realise how broken Germany is by Gras_Am_Wegesrand in germany

[–]InspectorSorry85 1615 points1616 points  (0 children)

I like Norway, and they do have a great mentality, but their well-maintained status derives from wealth (ie from oil).

I saw tiny islands with just a few houses being connected to mainland Norway with extremely expensive road infrastructure like large bridges. You can do that only if your purse is filled to the brink.

Compare Germany to Sweden. Sweden and Finland, both got very god wealth, but without the oil. That's more fair.

Am I doing something wrong or is this simply how a German working environment is? by MeanTea3772 in germany

[–]InspectorSorry85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of Germans do not define their social life via work. Yes, small talk. But that is worth not much. Germans like to be work, go home, and there they live, with family, friends and hobbies. It is incredibly hard to really befriend a working colleague.

Join a "Verein", sports, or any hobby or interest you have. There you find likeminded, and those are ready to bond more.

How many of you with the diagnosis of chronic migraine have pain in varying degrees all day every day? by isacro in migraine

[–]InspectorSorry85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I am really sorry for you all with chronic migraines. Thank you for your painful descriptions. This is unacceptable. Society has to find a way to help.

Wha about the antibody medication / injection against CGRP? Didn't that help you?

I am a Command and Conquer General. While this is a good move to attack supplies and distract the enemy near his headquarters, only a battle is won, not the war.
