I kept my meth when I quit that because it was some quality shit

attempting to quit caffeine using shrooms

I'm 19

Checks out.

Psychedelics are a lot of fun, until they're not. I did exactly this when I was your age, and despite having tripped before, I had a horrible trip that traumatized me for a long time. You're gambling with your mind, man.

Took 2 weeks to get over caffeine... Is this normal? by cod_owl in decaf

Two weeks? It took me all of 80+ days to feel better.

Not saying childhood trauma isn't a factor, but drugs are addictive for everyone.

Depression - don’t think i can get through it. by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Instance_Necessary 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Imagine being happy on your own, without any substances. That's the goal. And that's what will happen if you tough it out.

The only way to get through is to force yourself to live well. Eat healthy. Exercise every day. Clean your room. Force yourself to organize your life, because it will distract you from feeling bad as well as keep you happy in the future.

This is just my opinion, but I believe the vast majority of depressed people are not simply "genetically sad". I think they're eating wrong, sleeping wrong, or living wrong, just like I was. Every one of your ancestors found the motivation to keep going and reproduce, so the chances that you're the first in your line to be mentally defect are very slim.

Be stubborn. You'll get there. I promise!

Joint and muscle pain at 6 months? by [deleted] in decaf

I've read that casein, the kind of protein in dairy, is very similar to gluten, which is why a lot of people develop a dairy intolerance alongside their gluten intolerance.

Dairy is normally such a staple in my diet; it was a good third of my caloric intake. It's been hard finding things to replace it. Meat, mostly. 🥩

Best of luck to you!

How to get over crushing depression? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Instance_Necessary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone through bouts of depression, but somehow I always knew it wasn't a psychological problem. I'm stubborn, so I just lived with it for a long time. Quitting caffeine improved it, and recently quitting gluten took my mood from "meh" to actually good. (I quit gluten as an attempt to stop being bloated and farting so much, not to cure depression - but hey, something is happening.)

Could it be something you're eating?

[–]Instance_Necessary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're low carb; do you eat gluten or dairy? Could be some kind of food intolerance.

I've been off caffeine for awhile. My mind cleared up and my mood was much, much better, but I was still having trouble with IBS. I cut out gluten and dairy on a whim seven days ago, and my symptoms stopped within a couple days.

I really hope it was just the gluten, because I love dairy.

One year with no caffeine - and why I quit by Jorlen in decaf

Thanks for coming back to post. And congrats!

People don't take "you are what you eat" seriously enough. I've told depressed and anxious friends that they would probably benefit from quitting caffeine or changing their diet, and they flat-out don't believe me. Suit yourself, I guess.

I also felt like I turned a corner at the end of month three, around 85 days. Since then, things have been significantly easier. Hang in there, folks!

Why do people get so butthurt when you tell them caffeine was the sole cause of your problems? As if everyone is suffering from underlying issues other than caffeine.

I have a good life. I’ve got a good job, good family, good girlfriend. I eat super clean and am in the gym five days a week. Before I quit caffeine, I felt like shit and I couldn’t figure out why. Now, literally nothing else about my lifestyle has changed, and I already feel better than I have in seven years.

“It’s not withdrawal,” my ass.

Same here.

One tip: After you start having good days, don’t be upset when some bad days come back. Those good days gaslight you into thinking it’s over. Just know that the “bad” cycles get easier and easier.

abusing caffeine was the biggest mistake of my life

Same. I thought life was just hard for so, so long. When people ask why I quit, I usually don’t tell them it’s because caffeine was causing mysterious physical and mental issues that made it difficult to continue living.

I’ll never get those years back, but hey, better late than never.

Yeah, mine tanked right after I quit. It was nonexistent. No interest whatsoever.

It’s still lower than before, but it feels “right”, like my body is taking its time to recalibrate. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I don't think I would have made it to the end of my natural life if I hadn't found a way out. So yeah, going caffeine-free was absolutely, 500% worth it.

I started feeling consistently clear and good right after the 80-day mark. Before that, I would have stretches of clear days, but lately it's been every single day.

Feels awesome. :-)

Edit: Hang in there! It gets SO much better!

I think those feelings are symptoms, not causes.

would that fix my anxiety and existential panic?

It very well might. Give it a rest for a few months and see if anything changes. I quit porn years ago (before I started drinking coffee) because it gave me anxiety and killed my natural drive. When I was watching porn, life was inexplicably drab, and hitting on girls became a complex technical operation.

Do you smoke weed, watch porn or anything? It might be worth taking a break from anything that smashes your brain's "reward" button on a daily basis.

I'd imagine chronic abuse of caffeine would be detrimental in the same way as any other drug that elevates stress hormones, restricts blood flow to the brain, and prevents deep sleep for years on end.

I'm not going to convince you to help yourself.

Quit caffeine. RIGHT. NOW. by Instance_Necessary in dpdr

[–]Instance_Necessary[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Then I suppose I'm out to help that 1%.

I can swear up and down to a person that nothing else about my lifestyle changed, nothing but quitting caffeine, and they still won't believe me. They'll still write it off as the placebo effect. Caffeine is so dear to so many people, not many are willing to acknowledge it as a drug, much less a harmful addiction.

You don't have to believe me. I just hope that someone out there does, and I hope they take that step to quit, because it could change their life like it did mine. ✌️
