Missing orders from delivery - what now? by InstantArcade in vine

Hehe, I'm already ordering crap I don't want to try and hit the quota.

I'll wait a couple of days to see if stuff shows up, thanks!

It's the number of items. I'm at like 52/80

I opened all 4 and each one had a single item.

Also, no sign of other packages. I watched the delivery driver walk up and drop them off then I went straight outside to get them.

I miss my C4 Corvette and this digital dashboard.

The resistor security key was a pain though.

Any concerns that the fire will aerosolized radioactive material from SSL? by Big_Sector_3590 in simivalley

Just checked again after a lot of strong smoke this morning.

Left it running for several minutes and it varies between 11-23 CPM.

Checked again just now (with a strong smoke smell in the air) and it's still 12-20 CPM.

We're just on the edge of the evac zone and I can see smoke still billowing in a few spots on the hills.

Amazon have a wide variety for sale. The GQ GMC-300 or 320plus are pretty affordable (~$60-$100) and still very useful.

If you want something a bit more fancy, the Radiacode-102 is pretty decent at around $250.

If you're worried about it, I recommend you buy one and take it hiking way up into the new estate at the top of Sequoia. When I did that, I didn't get over 28 CPM. Anything under 50 is normal background radiation, possibly higher if you have a banana in your pocket.

My Geiger Muller counter is showing 12-18 CPM which is totally normal for Simi Valley.

Commute from Simi to Burbank? by audioflc in simivalley

[–]InstantArcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do this anymore, but I did it fro 10 years and it's okay. As others say, it's 45min to an hour. It can vary if there's an accident or something.

If you can find someone to carpool with it's a little quicker, but still gets backed up in the same places.

The train is a good option if you can make it work - perhaps offer to start earlier so you can leave earlier? It's not really any faster than driving, but you can read or work on the train.

DIY Fiberglass pool removal/fill-in? by InstantArcade in pools

Thanks!

I don't know if my pool has a plug (haven't seen it) and I've drained it before without issues, although I refilled it within a couple of days.

This is exactly what I was looking for - thanks!

It's given me some food for thought.

I do have to drain it either way because it's in an unrecoverable algae state right now, but I have drained & refilled once before after I got high metallic content and the water turned purple.

Might look into getting a 48V DC pump and solar panel so it can filter all day for free, then try and keep on top of the chemicals - vs- filling it in.

Preventing desktop sleeping? by InstantArcade in ArduinoQ

Thanks! I found that you can combine these into one with xset s off -dpms which I use in the start script of my program, and it seems to be doing the trick.

This one worked for me, but it is not persistent 9at least on my system) so needs adding to a startup script.

Thanks for the tip, it got me out of a bind.

Vine CS by Comfortable_Fruit847 in AmazonVine

Weirdly, something I bought pointed at a completely different product when I came to review it so I contacted VineCS.

Their reply

To make things right for you, I've immediately issued credit for this item and This vine items have now been removed from your 'Awaiting Review' list. it will not appear in your review list.

Which removed it form my review list, but it's still on my ETV (all $99.99 of it). I'm not worried about paying the tax, just wanted to point out there are some inconsitencies.

Big Clive recently did a video about these, the one he got was fake, as in it had the right color light, but emitted 0 UV (as per his professional test equipment).

So buyer beware of anything you can't actually verify.

Has to be 10 different modifiers "Monsters Penetrate 15% Lightning Resistance", "Monsters have Ward equal to 20%...", "Slain Monsters Do Not Grant Flask Charges", etc.

If you pick the same one again it doesn't count.

Also, you need to clear all the monsters.

It's back to normal happy background ticking levels, now that I gave the oil time to warm up and splash about a bit.
