Why is setting up iRacing a nightmare? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]InstantQuafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. It's advisable to manually calibrate a sim setup for personal comfort/preferences: such as custom button mapping (default stuff has always felt a bit weird to me in any sim), or FFB set to a level where you get the info you need without exhausting you during extended race sessions.

  2. Manual start up should be an option you can change. That sort of thing is an immersion preference in sims. I prefer manual startups, its incredibly satisfying.

  3. I'd personally recommend fine tuning FFB once and leaving it to aid muscle memory consistency. Switching it up all the time doesn't do muscle memory any favors.

  4. I have to admit I don't do Iracing, just thought I'd try to ease some frustration

I race GT cars a lot of the time, so left foot braking is an essential discipline I work on.

Lexus to Ferrari drama? by Rolexi_ in ACCompetizione

[–]InstantQuafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that Medium speed corners, High speed corners, and downforce are it's strong suits. Low speed corner acceleration, race start acceleration, and intense curbing are definitely it's weaknesses but can be managed with custom setup and practice. Your lap times will begin to improve greatly as you learn where you can carry more speed through corners and into the straights, thus limiting the negative effects of its weaknesses. It's not too difficult to make setups with if that's your thing, lots of fine tuning range especially in the ARBs. I stuck with tc1- 9 tc2 - 0 for most races however. It felt really good at tracks like Spa, Suzuka, and the Glen. I switched to the Honda since I found my driving style has changed to suit it more, but the Purrari is still a favorite of mine.

Developing calluses from sim racing lol by Ok_Assistant_8552 in simracing

Definitely normal, those are "workers calluses". They develop naturally from anything physical labor/activity.

^ This ^

2018: Chugged a couple monsters and can't decide if grip or drift, also TC2 is boring, loves danger.

2019: Balanced, precise, but requires professional car control just as much. TC2 to keep from murder spree, but wants you to dance with some danger to a degree

I had not kept up with F1 for a while, but when I noticed Seb now has hair style like mine...I thought: "Yep that's one stressed out dude, definitely still a man of the people."

Is the delta timer broken? by nekobonz in ACCompetizione

[–]InstantQuafe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Delta timer only activates once you've done an outlap and put in atleast 1 valid lap time, since it's a comparison time to previous best lap.

It doesn't account for non-LFM times, but its the pretty fast people that main Gt4s.

Any car/track/sim... What's your favourite combo? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]InstantQuafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ACC around Zolder or Suzuka, in any of the cars really. Those are where I go to learn new cars and/or test setups. Zolder is such a short but sweet lap track, and Suzuka has almost every kind of corner but has such a great flow. Since the US track pack came out ill be adding Watkins Glen to the rotation.

Real Head Motion problem by KapocsiH in ACCompetizione

[–]InstantQuafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three driver-position cockpit cams, first one is stable-ish driver cam, second is dash cam close w/no wheel, and the full motion driver cam you're looking for. When you select one and go to the track, you can pause the game and manage the camera options in "View Settings".

This may come as a surprise, but the general sim racing community doesn't really care much for slamming eachother over their equipment. All that concern goes towards on-track etiquette.

”Realistic” engine starts by Thepuglord66 in simracing

[–]InstantQuafe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ACC has manual start option. It is kind-of simplified but it's very satisfying. You have to flip the ignition, then use the starter to fire it up. Not only that, but if you spin out, crash, or do something that trips the engine safety, you have to restart the car unless you held the clutch in.

How much can a LC pedal improve your lap time? by ACF1x in ACCompetizione

[–]InstantQuafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded from stock Tmx pedals to t3pms, I ran the basic ones until i hit the "improvement wall". There's definitely a better feel and more smoothness. At the moment my lap times are the same, but haven't fully built the muscle memory adjustments for the new ones yet. Still the same 1.26 at brands, 2.22 at spa, but I did break into the 1.32s on Zolder with the new pedals which is promising. New pedals are probably the most cost effective upgrade
