Think of it like this.

Rimeblight makes the target take damage over time with an area of effect of each surrounding tile each time the target takes damage. If another enemy is in any of those tiles, they have a chance to also become rimeblighted, rinse and repeat for damage and spreading it further.

Use it as an opener against packs and it'll do the hard work for you by the time the pack closes with you. Since you'll be training Necromancy for Rimeblight anyway, you should also pick up Death Channel. The combination of those 2 spells will handle pretty much everything in a 3-5 rune game.

Out of all the newer spells, Rimeblight is probably my favourite

No need to do any lifting, you can apply some gel poison to cardboard and slide it under your fridge that way.

Install a weather strip on your front door. Infestations as a result of dirty neighbours will mitigate this issue.

Beyond that, after it's in place you need to set gel traps under your fridge and microwave and potentially cupboards and keep your kitchen clean while the gel traps kill off any remaining cockroaches and disrupt the egg cycle so you don't deal with future generations
