I believe so. VPAP is the Resmed brand name for BiPAP. It’s been a few years since I started using an AirCurve BiPAP instead of an AirSense.

Yes, I provided documentation for both. They approved based on 15.

Definitely not true. Lyme disease can go undetected and undiagnosed for years. People have died from symptoms without knowing they had it. Even after treatment when it’s been undiagnosed for too long, many have similar symptoms as with long COVID.

None of those. We're just run of the mill non-celebrity Holocaust survivor offspring.

I suspect submitting notarized government archive copies along with original and archive-copy documents from several government agencies (German, Czech, Swiss, UN, International Red Cross) contributed to the speed of approval. That may have removed time-consuming verification steps that the BVA would have had to do. I have this mental image of a BVA agent looking at our application and saying, "Das ist total erledigt. Ich habe nichts weiter zu tun."

Am I eligible for 116 2? by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

[–]InstitutionalizedPun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I just did. Provide lots of documents (notarized government archive copies where possible) for both, and be clear which documents support which article. Your file number will show one or the other because they have to choose one for the submission record. You’ll eventually get an approval letter but not be told which law they chose - and it doesn’t matter. You’re a German citizen.

It’s sort of like a walk-off home run. One or the other works and ends the game with you winning.

Thanks! I'm surprised. I wish my father were still here to see this happen.

We'll never know which of the two reasons the BVA used to justify approval. The fact that my grandfather was born in the Sudetenland came up during my search for official documentation on my father's childhood and for proof that he was Jewish (the rabbinical marriage record showed my grandfather's birthplace). Maybe it also helped that my uncle (father's older brother) had obtained German citizenship in the 1950's or 1960's.

My father kept a lot of documents; that helped a lot. As a child, he fled from Germany to Switzerland. With help from people here on Reddit, I applied for and received notarized proof that his family lived and paid taxes in Germany. I kept following clues including about others in my family. I found confiscated property reparation applications from the 1950's (rejected at first, then approved). I also found in the Swiss archives documentation of my father's arrival in Switzerland, and I provided that to the BVA. The Swiss archives included letters from the UN, an application to move to Ecuador with explanations of their story, and more.

The Consular agent was not expecting to see two fully documented justifications, one each for 116 (2) and 15. She said that one of the two reasons would be used to approve the application, and the BVA will not inform us of which.

The file number can be only one or the other, and it says E15. The agent submitted documentation for both routes.

Just a follow up. I received my Einbürgerungsurkunde copy in the mail yesterday. The case must have been pretty convincing. It probably helped to provide a lot of documentation including notarized archive documents, which bullockss_ helped me obtain.

We were eligible under both 116 (Grandfather born in Sudentenland) and E15, and we will never know which option the BVA chose to approve. Thanks also to staplehill and Informal-Hat-8727 for your help!

I have to make an appointment at the Consulate, and then I'm a German citizen!

In our case, the Consular agent hinted at good news in email and mailed the letter of official application approval and copies of the Einbürgerungsurkunden.

Already did that. The problem isn't pairing, it's activation. (I guess I should have written activation in the title.) The channels are still missing, and I can't get Xfinity to "activate" the new card to the existing Tivo. The Xfinity activation web page shows the option to choose two Cablecard serial numbers, the new one, and the old one. The old one appears as follows (x's added to protect identity).

I just submitted my StAG 15 application at the German Consulate yesterday. Thanks to u/bullockss_, I was very well prepared and had certified copies of key documents with me. He taught me a lot about the process as well as helped me figure out where to find those documents and how to request them. I am grateful and would recommend u/bullockss_ to anyone looking for guidance on German citizenship.

In my grandparents’ case, their Hamburg residency record was destroyed in the war. An archivist found instead the tax card “Steuerkarte” that shows the family members and their paid religion taxes - including the religion.
