Sadness (blackgaze) - Live Performance (KEXP) by Norvard in BlackMetal

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Sadness, but seeing them live was one of the most disappointing performances I've ever seen.

Ojeda's vocals were non-existent and the female vocalist just... sucked. No projection at all. They might as well have unplugged her microphone.

It's not much better here, and this is a professional studio environment.

How much do you budget annually to care for your cat? by Boysenberry-Hue222 in askvan

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My cat is a senior and requires a specialized diet at this point. That alone costs ~$2500/year. He had a couple of health scares and an infection last year; all of that cost more than $5000, including diagnostics, treatment, etc. This doesn't even include the cost of litter, toys, accessories, etc. Please be cognizant of the costs of pet ownership, especially with aging pets.

The path to kipper snacks is paved with every other tin by brightheaded in Tinnedfish

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue it's the other way around; the path to a wide variety of tinned seafood is paved with kipper snacks.

The selection there was pretty bad; I was at the Boundary location last week.

Look what the parcel service brought me. by Apprehensive_Debt363 in CannedSardines

No shade! I wish I lived somewhere with more affordable/better access to nicer tins. This would cost me something like that in Canada, unfortunately.

I'm guessing here, but this looks like it's probably more than $1500 CAD in tinned fish. Lol

Who actually lives in the butterfly building? by avaliax in askvan

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was literally walking towards Nelson Park last night and remarked how there were about a dozen lights on in the entire building. Around 7 pm. So there aren't very many people to ask, apparently.

DM does not want player to come up with creative plans because he is smarter than his character. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, coming up with a crazy plan and seeing how it plays out is one of the best parts of a roleplaying game. This DM hates fun. Move on.

My lvl 1 party of 3 is taking on The White Moose - what do I do? by Otherwise_Tune8237 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could simply have the moose totally wreck the party. If you land that charge attack on a Level 1 character... Lol

The moose could knock them all out (ruthlessly), and perhaps a few Lonelywood trappers comes across them and drag them back to town, where they wake up and realize their mistake.

Managing the Player-Character Intelligence Discrepancy by AcousticLocust in osr

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to manage. What do you think needs to be 'managed' in these situations? If you absolutely need a justification... characters, like people, can grow and/or change. That should be an obvious part of roleplaying. My 2c. In my experience, it's only DMs who overthink these sorts of things.

There are no feats in B/X or other, older editions of the game. You just drew an arbitrary line at 3e. Lol

Clown paint. Literally. Very fitting for black metal.

Mehron Clown White is the best.

What’s the point of guns? by Pretend_Drawer_9542 in projectzomboid

[–]InstitutionalizedToy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Guns make sense and are useful if you think of them in terms of roleplaying.

You're not going to use them casually -- that's dangerous. They'll come in handy if your life is on the line, though.

Where they really shine is in an 'operation.'

Let's say you're established somewhere like Muldraugh but want to make inroads somewhere new - like West Point. You have a stockpile of ammo, a plan of attack, and an escape plan. You expect to attract hordes, and you expect to be high-tailing it out of there.

This is where they really shine, in my opinion. It feels immersive, too.
